Best 7 Days to Die Overhaul Mods for 2026

The best 7 Days to Die overhaul mods for 2026: Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy, War3zuk AIO, Ravenhearst, and The Wasteland, plus server tools.

NBy Nxeon

7 Days to Die is a great sandbox on its own, but the overhaul mods are where the game truly opens up. These are full conversions that add classes, new zombies, deeper crafting, and hundreds of hours of content. Here are the best 7 Days to Die overhaul mods to run on your server in 2026.

Darkness Falls

The most popular overhaul by a wide margin. Darkness Falls adds classes, new tiers of progression, titanium and laser weapons, sinister new enemies (including the dreaded Behemoth), and a much longer late game. It rebalances the whole survival curve so that the first week is genuinely dangerous. If you only try one overhaul, make it this one.

Undead Legacy

Undead Legacy is for players who love systems. It overhauls crafting, storage, and repair with a station-based workflow, a redesigned UI, and a slower, more deliberate progression. It rewards planning and base organization more than raw combat. Expect a steeper learning curve and a very satisfying grind.

War3zuk AIO

War3zuk All In One bundles a huge amount of new content: vehicles, guns, farming, animals, and quality-of-life tweaks, without straying as far from vanilla as Darkness Falls. It is a great "more of everything" overhaul for groups that want expanded content but familiar pacing.

Ravenhearst

Ravenhearst is the hardcore choice. It is notoriously punishing, with deep crafting trees, new mechanics, custom zombies, and a survival experience that assumes you enjoy suffering. Bring friends and patience.

The Wasteland

The Wasteland is a themed overhaul that blends Fallout, Mad Max, and STALKER vibes into 7 Days. Factions, new POIs, themed weapons, and a distinct post-apocalyptic atmosphere set it apart. Perfect if you want a fresh setting rather than just harder vanilla.

Server management tools

Running an overhaul server is much smoother with the right admin tools:

  • CSMM (CatalysmsServerManager) is a powerful web-based server manager. It gives you player management, automated commands, scheduled restarts, economy and teleport systems, and Discord integration.
  • Alloc's server fixes provide the web map, extended API endpoints, and admin tools that many other utilities (including CSMM) depend on. Install Alloc's first; it is effectively a prerequisite for a well-managed server.

Important compatibility notes

  • Overhauls are not cross-compatible. Run one overhaul at a time; never stack Darkness Falls with Undead Legacy.
  • Overhauls modify game code, so every connected client must install the exact same version of the mod, and EAC must be turned off (more on that in our install guide).
  • Match your mod version to your game version. A21 mods will not work on A22/1.0 servers and vice versa, so check the mod's release notes before updating.

Backups and updates

Overhauls receive frequent patches, and a bad update can corrupt a long-running save. Always back up your world before applying a new mod version, and read the mod's changelog for save-breaking notes. If an update warns that it is not save-compatible, finish your current playthrough first or start fresh, rather than risk losing dozens of hours of base building.

Which should you pick?

  • Want the definitive expanded experience: Darkness Falls
  • Love deep crafting and base management: Undead Legacy
  • Want more content without a huge learning curve: War3zuk AIO
  • Crave brutal difficulty: Ravenhearst
  • Want a whole new setting: The Wasteland

Host it right

Overhaul mods are resource-heavy, and every player needs matching files. A dedicated server with enough RAM keeps horde night from turning into a slideshow. Nxeon's 7 Days to Die server hosting ships with a one-click Mods manager and EAC toggle, so you can deploy Darkness Falls or Undead Legacy in minutes.

Pick your overhaul, grab a box from our game servers, and survive Day 7 in style.
