Armor Level System

Adds an "armor level" to gear, giving Barotrauma a Tarkov-style damage resolution.

Before you start

This mod ships with no armor data of its own — subscribing to it alone changes nothing. So how do you actually get the effect?

 • Use it alongside a gear mod that has registered armor with this system.
 • Or fill in the Armor value table in the mod settings using
identifier:level
. This works for any gear — vanilla body armor, diving suits, or clothing from other mods.

How it works

1. Penetration check

Armor value = level / 10; penetration = the projectile's penetration (0 ~ 1). The difference d = armor value − penetration directly determines the chance to penetrate and the damage dealt after penetrating.

2. Layered armor and penetration decay

Resolution order: OuterClothes (diving suit slot) → InnerClothes (clothing slot). After the outer layer is pierced, the projectile's penetration is reduced, and the remaining penetration is then checked against the inner layer.

3. Blunt damage

When a layer is not pierced, the gap between penetration and armor still causes a small amount of blunt damage. This can be turned off in the settings — with it off, a failed penetration deals no damage at all.

How to use

Mod settings

 • Master switch — turning it off disables the whole system and falls back to the vanilla damage calculation
 • Blunt damage — on = a failed penetration still deals a small amount of damage; off = a failed penetration deals no damage
 • Armor value table —
id:level
or
id:level:penetrationDecay
, separate multiple items with commas. Example:
captainsuniform:4,my_divingsuit:6:0.5
Console commands

armorlevelshow current state and all entries

armorlevel add <id> <level> [decay]add or override an entry

armorlevel del <id>remove an entry

armorlevel clearclear all settings entries

armorlevel exportoutput the current settings (easy to share)

armorlevel reloadre-read settings

armorlevel on | offmaster switch

armorlevel blunt on | offblunt damage toggle

armorlevel test <pen> <level|id>calculate a result offline

For mod authors

ArmorLevelSystem.Register("my_divingsuit", 5) -- level 5 armor
ArmorLevelSystem.Register("my_vest", 4, 0.03) -- optional custom penetration decay

Only applies to items in the OuterClothes / InnerClothes slots and to damage-type afflictions.

Included: debuff blacklist

Also included is a "debuff blacklist" — write the afflictions you don't want into the list and the player team becomes immune to them. The default list contains some debuffs from TSM. Feel free to add, remove, or disable them entirely.

Console commands

dmgblshow the list

dmgbl add a,b,cadd entries

dmgbl remove a,bremove entries

dmgbl set a,b,creplace the list

dmgbl reloadreload

dmgbl on / offmaster switch

Note: the ids in the list must match the affliction ids used by vanilla and by other mods, and the defaults may not match what you want — please adjust them to suit your needs.
