Changelog
Version 2
- Removed calibration as the value can now be directly read from the reactor. - Simplified the logic and removed unnecessary sugar.
Version 2.1
- Fixed bug where the system would calculate incorrect fission rate for certain maximum output - Further logic simplification. - Included minimalistic blueprint to save on components.
Description
This is a fully autonomous reactor that requires absolutely no crew to operate. Just switch it on and let it do its job. The system replaces a human engineer.
The system is 100% accurate and keeps the temperature exactly at 50% (The most efficient fission is at this temperature). It also adjusts the output based on the current demand of the grid. Reaction to changes in the power requirements is almost instantaneous (The only limit is the maximum physical change the reactor allows).
INSTRUCTIONS Usage is straight forward. Place the reactor anywhere you like and connect the power out. Just like a standard reactor.
IMPORTANT If you change the reactor maximum output in its settings also CHANGE the value in the system. Change the green memory component value to be equal to the reactor's maximum output value. Not doing so will CAUSE UNDEFINED BEHAVIOR. Look at the screenshot to see which memory component to change.
Configuration
The green memory component tells the system what is the maximum energy output value of the reactor. It is necessary to be correct for internal calculations. You are free to change it at any time, the system will adjust - It is necessary to change after you upgrade the submarine's reactor.
The cyan memory component is the target temperature in %. It tells the system what temperature to keep the reactor at. By default it is set to 50 which is at 50% temperature. Again, you are free to configure it at any time - based on your requirements. The system will try to adjust and attempt to supply the grid with the required power while keeping the temperature at this percentual value.
Blueprint
Based on multiple requests I added circuit blueprint into the screenshot section so anyone can take the design and expand it. There are two blueprints. One is the full blueprint of the system, the other is a minimalistic version that squeezes all the constants into a single memory component (This blueprint is useful if you want to build the system in-game real time. Use a calculator to calculate the constants. The formulas are provided in the blueprint.)
