Does it bother you, too, that all items in the inventory are the same size?

...they used to be.

This mod replaces containers and other storage spaces with a grid-based inventory system. You’ve seen something similar in games like Escape from Tarkov, Diablo, Path of Exile, and Resident Evil. Now, inventory management is a bit more complex than just shoving everything into a storage container or a cabinet.

• Equipment: cabinets, crates, backpacks, toolbelts, bandoliers, and other full-fledged storage containers come with their own grids. There are exceptions.
• Placing items: does the item not fit horizontally? Press R or whatever key you’ve assigned to it... Did you just win a game of Tetris?
• Visual cues: green means it fits. Red means it doesn’t fit. Orange means it’s not allowed.
• Weight matters: an empty backpack won’t slow you down. But a full one — definitely will. The contents of nested containers also affect the weight.
• Grid view: some containers are divided into several small grids. You can change this, or you can leave it as is. It’s up to you. Everything is optional.
• Reduced hotbar: the number of player slots can be reduced to five. Realism, to a point. In the future, each slot will hold only a specific type of item.
• Nothing is set in stone: the mod is compatible with anything. Enter the command gridinventory in the console to create your own grids, set weights and sizes for items, and experiment!

What hasn't changed?

Fabricators, reactors, batteries, weapon racks, and other containers that are part of specific equipment remain vanilla. Your character's equipment slots also remain standard slots. We already have enough Tetris. I don’t recommend changing any objects related to workbenches :)

Requirements

• LuaCsForBarotrauma with client-side C# enabled.
• In multiplayer, every player must have the mod installed.

The mod isn’t finished yet; I’m actively polishing it, tweaking the balance to my liking, and listening to feedback. The mod has been tested in both multiplayer and single-player modes; I plan to test it further in the test branch of the upcoming DLC.

Item sizes are set to my preference. If you’ve customized anything to your liking, your changes may be overwritten when the mod is updated. I recommend backing up the overrides.xml file. And yes: changing containers between sessions can break your save file — simply causing items to disappear. Make a backup before experimenting with the campaign. And in general, make backups more often when playing with mods that have as many as two "here be dragons" warnings.

If something breaks, attach the logs. If it happened in multiplayer — attach them twice.
