The Kurgen class of ship was used primarily for convoy defense and carrier protection during the Sol War. When the Coalition took control of Europa, many of these ships were retrofitted for deep sea use with the goal to hunt down any remaining small Alliance vessels. While speedy with decent gun coverage, it's a known fact among Coalition captains that Kurgen crews are considered expendable, and it shows with the ships poor build quality for the Europan depths. Buy cheap, expect cheap.
