Experimental mod that aims to improve movement corrections, ladder climbing, and interactions around doors, hatches, and automatic doors under high latency. It cannot lower your actual ping or eliminate all position corrections.
What it does and how it works
The server still decides your final position and door states. When conditions allow, the mod preserves movement made locally while waiting for server confirmation, instead of losing that progress during a correction. On ladders, it preserves vertical progress only. If your local position and the server's position snapshot are on opposite sides of a doorway, and the last confirmed server state says the door is still open, the mod briefly cancels premature local closing predictions. Incoming server closures are still accepted immediately. Unsupported situations use the game's normal behavior.
Installation
1. Subscribe to this mod and install CLIENT Lua by following the official LuaCsForBarotrauma instructions. Subscribing to the framework alone does not complete client installation. 2. For the classic Windows method: enable the framework, select its server executable when hosting a room, press F3 while hosting, enter install_cl_lua, then restart the game. If you already use another client installation method, follow its official instructions and do not mix methods. 3. Enable NetAssist in the mod list. After entering a multiplayer lobby or round, press F3 and enter na_status to check that it has loaded. Each player who wants the effect needs it installed on their own client. Enable only one NetAssist package at a time.
Fixes are enabled by default. Use na_fix_off to disable all fixes for a vanilla comparison and na_fix_on to enable them again. na_ladder_off and na_doors_off disable the ladder and door modules separately. Reloading Lua restores the default settings.
My own experience
I tested it with friends under high latency, and it felt much better than before. Previously, I could get stuck in a repeated rubberbanding loop. I still sometimes snap back to an earlier position or suddenly move forward, but the persistent stuck loops felt much less of a problem. The remaining corrections are acceptable to me.
This is only my personal experience from our multiplayer test, not a general guarantee. It may not help every player, server, submarine, or mod combination. This is still an experimental mod and cannot promise to solve every high-latency issue.
