Compared to its direct competitor, the Dugong, Torakhov-pattern scouting vessels lead with a higher top speed and a rugged, dependable drainage system. The main issue holding the submarine back from widespread use is its experimental upward ballast, which is difficult to enter and prone to sending the entire submarine spiralling into the abyss following any kind of hull breach.
