THIS IS A PRIVATE SERVER MOD. YOU CAN ONLY USE IT ON DOMINUS PvP :D
After running a PvP server for more than a year, having blown away thousands of hours on it, as well as many other survival games, I came to notice a few shortcomings in the game and the genre in general.
This mod is the result of my ---extreme obsession--- with compensating for those inherent negative aspects of the game.
Say what you want about it (and really, there's no need lol, I've been here for the long haul - through thick and thin) no other sandbox game does building quite like Conan does.
Ark has its Rex breeding; Conan has its castles.
Players spend countless hours working toward the meticulous honing of a sprawling citadel and dream of the day when they'll inevitably face an enemy incursion. Its why we spend days worth of irl time hitting rocks and skinning the same guys over and over.
Intricately placed defensive positions, an army of top-tier fighters geared-to-the-nines, a labyrinth of false corridors, laden with traps and diversions.
I've heard this story a hundred times over:
Upon the laying of the last crenellation, and the placing of the last Dalinsia, the player thinks to himself "Yeah. If anybody tries to come into MY house, they're gonna burn with Yog." but realizing its now 3am on a Tuesday the player pats himself on the back and goes to bed.
Work drags on, and the player eagerly anticipates getting home and farming up some bombs. With the defenses stacked so thicc there's bound to be some unwanted attention. Those guys from the next grid over that are always talking smack need to learn who not to mess with anymore too.
He finally makes it home and fires up the machine. His wife is already logging in. She begrudgingly got into the game for its decorating, but turned out to be a PvP machine. They've already planned out their night. They're going to bait the next clan over, they'll hold the line at their fortress gates, and they'll counterattack and eviscerate a weakened foe.
Hundreds of hours of planning, rock farming and dreaming have all led up to this moment, and the couple can't wait to finally get to grips with their rivals.
The loading screen flashes its final quote and its about to be go time. Their anticipation is screaming. All of their preparation is about to pay dividends. The server finally accepts their login and the game world loads in.
And its gone.
The thralls, poisoned slowly from a safe distance, never having landed a single blow. The traps, easily avoided by an attacker facing no active threat, no pressure to elicit a hasty mistake. The hideaways, brute-force-excavated by one guy who sat in one spot drilling with jars because nobody was around to stop him.
The entire elaborate base - the product of countless hours of loving and obsessive attention - completely gutted and left a barren, empty husk.
"This game isn't fun anymore." Says the wife to her husband. "Yeah." He replies.
They pack up and move to a PvE server, or leave the game altogether.
Fast-forward another year and a couple of more thousand hours and I've finished taking matters into my own hands.
What this mod does:
- Offline protection system that tracks solo players and clans and severely limits the damage their structures can take while they are offline. (with controls? no logging out when attacked just to get a buff)
- Integrated, optional Discord bot to send you notifications if you?re being attacked offline.
- Replaced Pippis voting system with a for/against version (instead of % of total online players)
- Reimagined warping mechanic that includes a channeling sequence. This requires that a player stand in one place and take no damage for 10 seconds in order to tp. (to prevent teleporting away from pvp engagement)
- God bubbles that debuff an attacker, randomly delete/detonate explosive jars placed within, and can even snatch treb rounds out of the sky and throw them back at attackers.
- Land mines that are hidden from enemy view until theyre in very close proximity. Also includes a version that does less damage but violently launches enemies into the air.
- Custom orb effects (fire orbs actually light characters on fire), and new orbs youve never seen before. (like frost and bees)
- Suicide bombs (controlled mechanics for a very specific use! please ask someone before you just make them, you could end up blowing up your own base very easily)
-Lockable elevators (dont let the enemy in because you forgot to take down your lifts)
-Custom weapons
