Better Feedback

This map (addon) aims to showcase of what could be improved in terms of visual and auditory feedback in Counter-Strike 2. Upon loading the addon, a gamemode of choice will be launched on Dust 2 along with the content embedded in the addon as described below.

It's highly suggested to toggle armor by typing !a in chat, as the FX differ between armored and unarmored opponents.

Additional changes are yet to come.

- Implemented custom "blood impact" FX particles - The blood particles are now rendering on top of fog - Modified weapon tracers to be more readable, especially in bright areas - Overhauled legacy sniper models scope material - Removed delay applied to kevlar and flesh "hit" sounds (included in-game since 16/5/2025 update)

F.A.Q:

Q: Why is there so much blood now?? It ruins visibility!!! A: The blood effects are slightly exaggerated to demonstrate how stronger visual feedback can improve responsiveness and hit confirmation. This is only meant to showcase the concept for now. If Valve were to adopt the idea officially, they would likely redesign and author the particle effects to meet their artistic direction and technical standards.

Q: How can I play on another map than Dust 2? A: To launch a deathmatch mode on a different map, open the developer console and run the following command:

game_type 1; game_mode 2; sv_game_mode_flags 0; sv_skirmish_id 0; map <mapname> customgamemode=3472082269

Replace <mapname> with a desired map file name (eg. de_mirage, de_nuke).

Planned changes:

- Improve the look of ported CS:GO weapon skins - Make ragdolls less dampened and "stiff" - Make blood particles always render on top of fog - Make viewmodel sway less dampened and "stiff", similar to CS:GO

NOTE: The custom content embedded in the addon gets unloaded upon disconnecting from the map, which means you are not able to play official modes (eg. premier or competitive) with the addon content.
