A toy soldier cast from the last of the tin, standing steadfast on one leg. The rifle is the soldier himself: bare cast tin on the magazine and barrel with the mould parting line still showing, a scarlet parade tunic with brass hussar braid laid along the receiver grooves and a single crossbelt, the folded newspaper boat on the handguard with tin fish in the water below, and Prussian-blue trousers with a scarlet side stripe on the stock and grip.
