Kente Hunter

Some rifles are built in a factory. This one was claimed in the field. The receiver wears leopard spots, hand-brushed one rosette at a time, and the steel around it is blackened. The pale ash stock and handguard are burned with mudcloth symbols: dots, a cross, rings, zigzags and a diamond, picked out in red and green. Bold red, green and gold bands circle the butt and the handguard. A diagonal strip of hand-painted kente slashes across the black magazine. The pistol grip is wrapped tight in woven kente cloth, and a cracked stock wrist is bound in copper wire, a field repair that kept it in the fight. Red laterite dust has worked into every groove. The Kente Hunter isn't a showpiece. It's a rifle with a story, and it's ready to add yours.
