Dead Signal — Tactical Navigation & Comms
Your equipment is your connection to the battlefield.
Created for Nasdara’s behind-enemy-lines survival experience, Dead Signal gives portable radios and GPS receivers a practical purpose. Keep your radio powered to receive nearby event intelligence. Activate your GPS to reveal server landmarks, traders and supported event markers.
Designed for any DayZ map using the required DayZ Expansion modules.
FEATURES
• Radio-required event alerts: Receive supported event notifications while carrying a healthy, switched-on portable radio with a charged battery.
• Configurable reception range: By default, alerts reach eligible players within 3,000 meters of the event. Server owners can change this distance or enable unlimited reception.
• GPS-required navigation: A powered GPS unlocks Expansion server markers on the map and in the 3D world, including supported trader and event markers.
• Persistent device HUD: Radio and GPS indicators show when your carried equipment is operational.
• Reduced battery consumption: Radios and GPS receivers use half their normal battery power by default. Separate multipliers allow server owners to adjust each device.
• Remembered power state: Devices restore their saved ON/OFF state after reconnects and server restarts, provided working batteries remain available.
• Readable announcements: Larger, wrapping announcement text with configurable heading size, body size, width and placement.
SERVER CONFIGURATION
Settings are stored in:
profiles/DeadSignal/Settings.json
Configure reception distance, accepted device classes, battery drain, GPS marker requirements, HUD placement, notification appearance and event filtering. Clients receive the server’s configuration. Restart after making changes.
EVENT INTEGRATION
Includes location adapters for supported Expansion airdrop and AI mission notifications. Custom events can use the included DeadSignalAPI to supply their actual coordinates and apply the same radio and distance requirements.
With finite reception range enabled, event alerts without a known location are withheld by default. Third-party event systems and non-Expansion marker interfaces may require additional integration.
REQUIREMENTS
Required on both server and clients. Requires DayZ Expansion Core, Navigation and Missions, together with their prerequisites.
Uses existing PersonalRadio, GPSReceiver and ExpansionGPS devices. No new loot economy entries are required.
Remove overlapping legacy radio/GPS scripts before installation. Migration instructions are included.
RELEASE STATUS
Initial test candidate. Dedicated server and client validation is pending.
Independently developed for Nasdara. Not an official Bohemia Interactive or DayZ Expansion product.
