Free Bow

This mod brings a full bow-and-arrow system to DayZ. Let the Bow be Free.

Craft simple survival bows, refined horn bows, powerful longbows, a PVC bow, and a modern recurve bow. Gather wood, shape staves, find or craft the right materials, and work your way up to deadly high-tier arrows for silent hunting, combat, and good old-fashioned “I meant to hit that tree” target practice.

FreeBow now also includes placeable practice targets. Set up a large round archery target or a hay dummy target at your base or territory, then test your aim, tune your range, and humble your friends with hit reports. The dummy is built for both arrows and melee practice, because sometimes the lesson needs to be personal.

Targets come in crate form, making them easy to buy, carry, place, and dismantle back into a crate. Target hits can optionally report target name, distance, and damage through a custom popup, with optional Expansion Chat support if available. Arrows that hit FreeBow targets are always recoverable from the target, regardless of the normal server recovery chance.

Quivers are a core part of the mod. Wearable quivers can hold arrow stacks, prioritize which arrows reload into your bow, merge recovered arrows back into existing stacks, and show visible arrows on your character while worn. The larger quiver includes extra arrow capacity and a sheath slot.

Features include:

Multiple bow families, including Stick, PVC, Horn, Longbow, and Recurve bows. Multiple quiver types with functional arrow slots and worn arrow visuals. Several arrow types, from crude sharpened sticks to crafted, stone, gem-tipped, onyx, and modern composite arrows. Arrow progression where better heads increase lethality, accuracy, and performance. Loaded arrow visuals in hand and ADS, plus simulated bow draw animation. Recoverable fired arrows with server-configurable recovery chances and lifetimes. Placeable large round target and hay dummy target. Target crates that can be bought, carried, placed, and dismantled. Optional hit reporting with popup feedback and Expansion Chat support. Server config options for stave drops, crafting yields, draw timing, arrow recovery, and target hit reporting.

Bow progression: Stick and PVC bows can fire Crude, Crafted, and Stone arrows. Oak bows add Emerald and Composite arrows. Maple bows add Ruby and Sapphire over Oak. Yew bows can fire the full arrow lineup, including the highest tier Onyx.
