🔥 Core Systems

🍖 Recruitment

• Feed any food to recruit
• Each player can have up to 2–5 NPC companions (configurable)
• Right-click to dismiss — the NPC stays in place waiting for the next adventurer

👻 Soul System

• NPCs don't vanish on death! They become translucent souls and keep following
• Souls slowly regenerate health and auto-revive when full
• Can be revived with Tell-Tale Heart or Life Giving Amulet

❤️ Affinity System

Every NPC has an affinity level (0–400) that gates what it can do:

• Feed to raise affinity — any food adds a little; each NPC's favorite food adds more
• Higher affinity, more unlocks — following, work commands, crafting and special skills open up as affinity grows
• Death costs affinity — when an NPC dies its affinity drops (never below 1)
• Warly & Wormwood slowly spend affinity while working — keep them fed
• Left-click an NPC to open its status panel, then click the button next to "Affinity" to view each NPC's affinity and unlock requirements
• Can be switched off in the config — all NPCs then return to their original behavior with no affinity limits

⚒️ Work System

Assign jobs through the DstAdmin panel — NPCs start working immediately:

🌱 (Wormwood)

Follow to plowed land → Work Here → Plant → Tend → Harvest → Store

🍳 (Warly)

Follow to crockpot & icebox → Work Here → adjustable work range

🎣 (Wilson)

Auto-fish at ponds → Store catches in designated containers, customizable deposit point & catch limit

🪓 (Woodie)

Auto-chop trees within work range, chopping speed ×2, transforms into Werebeaver in combat

🧹 (Wes / Winona)

Auto-organize containers + pick up ground drops, keep your base tidy

🔧 (Winona)

One-click craft tape, generators, spotlights & catapults — executes when materials are available

📚 (Wickerbottom)

Passive aura: auto fire suppression, temperature control, dehumidify | Active skills: bee guard summon, lightning strike

💜 (Wortox)

Auto-detect allies within 20 tiles, group heal to restore health, soul hop to stay close

All work ranges can be adjusted in real-time through the panel

⚔️ Smart Combat AI

NPCs feature a complete kiting & dodge system:

• Backstep Dodge — Pull back in a straight line
• Sidestep Dodge — Lateral movement while maintaining line of sight
• Orbit Dodge — Circle around the target continuously
• Fire Evasion — Detect and avoid nearby flames

• Multi-target threat detection: scans enemies within 20 tiles
• Auto-retreat & eat when low HP, re-engage when healed
• Auto-assist when allies are under attack
