Introducing the Athion Starter Module, the latest build from Filbert Shipyards!
MADE FOR REFORGED EDEN
The Athion is a Starter CV that is upgradeable to help you gather what you need to build your first modular carrier!
Not only can the Athion be converted into alternative use once its no longer needed as a starter (more on that later), but it can be upgraded to increase its functionality beyond that of a simple mobile base.
Upgrades: Room to add multiple thrusters to boost payload Room to add 2x fixed harvest drills for asteroid mining Room to add 9x growplots to generate an early-game food supply Room to add a teleporter for mid-later game use conversion Room to add a shield capacitor (shutter door on bottom at back of ship to access capacitor bay)
There is enough free CPU when the Athion is spawned in to add all of the following without needing to expand the CPU beyond basic: 4x Medium thrusters(thruster install spots marked with symbols on hull (see pics)), 1x Shield Capacitor, and 2x Fixed Harvest drill lasers.
The Athion, like its large carrier brothers, is designed to be parked with turrets on and shields up while not burning any fuel!
This shielded warp starter is even small enough to fit into the courtyard on an Abandoned bunker making it the perfect raid companion!
In playtesting i actually found myself, due to the ability to sit safe and idle while not burning fuel, using the Athion as almost like a little mini mobile starter base; planet hopping and POI raiding on abandoned POIs.
Bonus: if you don't want to wait till lvl 25 to build some fixed harvest drills, hit up a colonist shipyard. There is a wreck there with two cargo pods on its belly, one of which has the two fixed drills inside that you need! (just be sure to buy a salvage license to stay friendly with the colonists :) )
Specs: -1x 320k Cargo -1x 320k Harvest cargo -Warp drive -Compact shield (2450hp) -1x Advanced Constructor -2x gatling turrets -Room to add 9x growplot farm -Room to add 2x fixed harvest drills -HV ramp on the back to load HVs onto the roof -Sits Idle with turrets on and shields up!
Enjoy!
If you are wondering what to do with your Athion once it has outlived its useful life consider this: If your server has CV TP range set to 1ly (lets be honest, this should be the standard EVERYWHERE!) then you can convert the Athios into a mobile dropbase/outpost. In my test game i actually towed the Athios behind my Autominer or Harvest module and it provided a TP link back to my carrier parked at the sun while also giving 2x 320 cargo systems to store the automined ores (allowing my autominer module to stay out longer before needing to be brought back).
If the drills are removed you will have the CPU needed to add a teleporter.
