Defense Node Mk1 - Early L5 A9 Survival

Howdy folks, this is the Defense Node Mk1 and it's a small footprint, defensive "platform" built for early survival that can be constructed at Level 5 with cheap materials. It was built specifically for the earlier gameplay of Survival mode to satisfy a need that can arise where some form of defense, other than small arms, is required. This design fits within the theme of the Defensive Tower and Platforms collection I've made, but rather than it being littered with all kinds of turrets built to defend larger bases at a considerably higher cost and level requirement, this one is specific for those starting out. I focused on making sure that it could be built at Level 5 (the minimum) by using materials that can be obtained in survival pretty early, constructing it to be self-sufficient and capable in its own rite.

This small defensive platform is designed with two cannon turrets only. There's no sentry turrets and no larger turrets to have to keep track of. In keeping with the early level 5 intent, smaller-sized solar panels were used in conjunction with a single solar capacitor along with the installation of the standard Large ammo box instead of the newer ammo controller. The ammo box can hold just over 13,000 rounds of 30mm cannon shot. Plus, given the solar array setup, it is meant to run on solar power indefinitely and be extremely low maintenance. Another design feature of this was the use of a single Tier 1 Fuel Tank that can be powered by Biofuel which can be made from wooden logs obtained in early survival with a chainsaw. Total fuel capacity is 1200 of which can be filled by 120 cans of Biofuel. Constant power consumption is a mere 17kW/PU with the total solar output on a nice sunny day possibly being well over 200kW.

The bulk of the platform is made of concrete with specific parts laid in armored concrete, hence the slightly higher cost of stone dust required. Armored concrete surrounds the core block plus the upper layer where possible penetration into the core might be attempted. A portion of the platform, including the core and other critical blocks, are placed within the ground, making it a partially subterranean structure, increasing defense.

Spawn Instructions: - Using the personal F5 drone, rotate it to the direction most desired for solar input - Partially sink into the ground just past the marked white dashes, or to the bottom of the solar panels

Build Requirements: - 216 Stone Dust - 30 Iron - 60 Silicon - 58 Copper - 17 Carbon Substrate
