Explorer 14 is a deep space mining vessel. I designed entirely in Survival for 6.0. It's lightly armored to keep the initial cost down, but all the most critical components are well protected. Don't let the size fool you, it can accelerate quickly out of danger when needed. But all that power comes at a cost. Make sure to assign the XL main thruster to a separate group so you can cruise without burning all the galaxy’s promethium. (I also assign the forward or retro thrusters to their own group so you can coast from one place to the other without burning much fuel.)
Explorer 14 also comes with "hover" engines that allow you to shut off all the main thrusters (except for the small "Down" thrusters) so you can loiter above the surface of a planet without eating through the fuel too quickly. This comes in handy when using the central mining pit.
