Filbert Shipyards presents: The Kestrel Corsair!

The Kestrel Corsair has been designed as a long-range attack vessel for use by mercenaries and privateers alike to plunder the shipping lanes deep inside unfriendly territory. The Kestrel was originally built at tier 4 and has subsequently been downgraded to tier 3 to allow for quicker, easier unlocking in-game. The ship is meant to be upgraded by the captain to tier 4 and then modifications can be made (i will detail this below).

In most of my time in the game, my play-testing of the Kestrel excluded, i have noticed that the game-play loop fizzles out once you obtain your preferred top-tier CV. The Kestrel is my answer to this. Unlocking this CV is not the end of the road, rather it will represent the next step on a longer journey. Once you have your prize, scour the galaxy in search of the expensive and rare parts you need to fully upgrade her; tier 4 cpu, a pair of T2 RCS units, maybe a pair of large F thrusters to replace the 8 Mediuim F thursters. This ship can grow as you go and will become not just a prize, but a new mission.

UPDATE: If you are looking for a shuttle to use with the Kestrel that will fit in its SV bay and is modifiable to fit your needs i have created a new SV for my own playthrough of the Kestrel

All in all a very capable and gritty mercenary vessel that i hope you will enjoy flying as much as i have!

In my play-test of the Kestrel i took the ship deep into Zirax territory and took out an imirat-class destroyer with this ship in its T3 state. She is more than capable, however, the twin T2 RCS units that can be added once the ship is upgraded to T4 CPU are a much needed improvement to the ships turning abilities. Sadly she is a bit sluggish without the T2 RCS, but she still makes max speed, is well armed, and has a large fuel, O2, and cargo capacity.

Note: i want to also give a nod to sulusdacor (i think thats how its spelled) for the inspiration. For those familiar with his Corvus Corvette you will likely notice some similarities in the very front of the bridge on the Kestrel. I love the look of the Corvus and so i modeled the very front of the bridge after it. This ship is scratch-built, but i have to credit Sulusdacor for that bridge front style!

Second NOTE: The thrusters detail on the statistics page is not correct. Not sure why but the game has mixed up the L/R and F/B thrusters in its stats breakdown. This ship has 2b/8f thrusters and 6l/6r thrusters...
