RP-Description: The DV-108186-4 "Maelström" is an old Imperial flanking destroyer. A machine of war from a bygone era. The Terran Navy found this one almost intact and restored it to it's former glory. Make no mistake - if you think that this ship is an outdated rust bucket of little use, you will find yourself on the shortest route to a cold grave. Much knowledge was lost, when the old Empire crumbled and the Navy does not restore ships for nostalgic reasons. The role of a DV (Destroyer Vanguard) class ship in a battlegroup was to flank the enemy capital ships and to force them to turn away from the own battleships. Ofthen they did and the DV had to face brutal poundings once the enemy battleships turned their guns in anger. These ships were heavily armored but it still was the most dangerous role in the Imperial Force. That's why many of their wrecks can be found throughout the gallaxy and ... the Terran Navy wants to restore every single one they can! They call them after the first wreck they restored - the "Maelström" class. Imperial war machinery? Let's see how the Zirax like them apples!

Armor: A lot of combat steel. The combat bridge has several layers of spaced combat armor (Explosions in Empyrion can damage blocks behind armor without destroying the armor first. The armor layers are spaced out one block, so the shockwave hits only the vacuum behind it and if one layer is breached there's an untouched next layer.) The intended attack direction for a DV is head on. Self explanatory, because you surely want to bring the chase cannons to bear.

Equipment: Everything except offline protection (position marked) and a teleporter (position marked and there's a calibrated proximity detector above it that you can use for activation) Fully equipped infirmary left of the bridge. Combat bridge on the lowest deck from the forward elevator. There's also the captains cabine. That poor bastard had to share his quarter with the combat bridge, so he would be ready at all times.

Functions: Planetary Mode - turns off space guns and artificial gravity, turns on sentry guns. Growth Lights - self explanatory.
