This is a platform I designed and use in survival to mine resource nodes easily, technically you do not need a generator for the elevator blocks to work, but you need one if you want to have lights for night mining. Very basic build and all you do is center the platform on the resource node and make sure you have elevator blocks as well to build down so you can enter and exit the mine no matter how you decide to mine it. You can leave these structures and come back to use it later. I have these on all of my SP nodes and it works well. Very minimal resources to build, and just over 6 min build time.
***** EDIT: - I recentely added a pic showing how to brace the elevator shaft so it doesn't break. Add blocks for support around it about every 4-5 elevator blocks or more if needed. *****
