POI Infiltrator

With more the 5k hours playing games with some level of on foot combat, it has become clear that I stink at it. I’m just not coordinated enough to be effective. Raiding abandon POIs can be very frustrating for me. After about 20 deaths, frustration kicks in and I switch to GM and just clean it out. I needed to find a solution that isn't cheating.

My solution, dig under the POI and target the core, before entering the facility. This however, takes lots of time to break through the outer wall/floor with hand held weapons. I wanted a ship to help make this easier. In the end a very effective SV was inadvertently discovered.

This is my facility infiltrator. Build using the Bargainer on the platform of a Creative save. Just to test the idea I removed some blocks and installed four mining lasers and two plasma cannons. Works great, don’t think I could improve it with a scratch build. Less than two minutes of modification and I have solved my POI raiding frustrations.

I did try my Over Minor for this task and realized I need a ship with a minimal profile. The POI Infiltrator fits the need. It clears a hole big enough for itself with minimal circular movements. It's also easy to turn around and exit when the turrets are retracted. Sure, some think this is still cheating, but for me, it’s a solution that doesn’t go around what’s allowed in game.
