Ilmarinen-class heavy mining ship is the pride and masterpice of Polaris Mining Company fleet.

This 330m long ships main focus is the huge mining ring in the middle of the ship - housing the asteroid mining turrets. But Ilmarinen is much more than "just" a mining ship.

Vast storage space in the front with eight cargo holds - including in addition to general storage space - cold storage for food and ore processing unit with multiple constructors. Midship houses most of the crew and cockpit can be found in the top and in the bottom of the midship for easy manouvering around asteroids when mining.

Hangarspace includes one larger and one smaller small vessel hangars in the stern, small portside maintenance hangar in the midship and massive hover vessel hangar in the bottom of the ship. HV hangar can easily be accessed from the ground level on both sides.

Despite its large size, Ilmarinen is designed to land on planets because of its sizeable hover miner arsenal. Up to eight PHM-4 Rhino hover miners can be housed in the HV hangar. Landing on planets is made easy as Ilmarinen sits ontop of its midship section and HV hangar - making its footprint on planets only a fraction of its actual size. Typical "fast" landing (from orbit straight down and back up again) on a average planet (Omicron) will consume around 3000 units of fuel.

Being self sufficient, been built of rugged hardened steel, having turret defenses and vast storage & hangar space - it all makes this an ideal ship for long deep space mining voyages.

CUSTOM SWITCHES:

NormalThrust = Basic thruster setting for 'economic' flight. Activates only some of the thrusters. ExtraThrust = Activates the rest of the thrusters so together with NormalThrust-mode all thrusters are ON. Should only be used IN ADDITION to NormalThrust mode, not alone. RCS = Turns all RCS ON/OFF. To save fuel when stationary. Gravity = Turns Gravity ON/OFF. Mining = Turns Mining Turrets and mining Spotlights ON/OFF. LightsExterior = Turns all the exterior lights ON/OFF.

It is not a combat ship - but its a ship which has been built with attention to detail and as a ship that I would personally like to use. It can be great ship for exploration and as a mobile base - but I would encourage to test it out in Creative before spawning and using lots of resources for it in Survival.

It can be great RPG-ship - every place has a function and everything is accessible, nothing is hidden. But having said that, ease of use has also been on my mind constantly as I was building this. For example Control Panel has been completely rearranged to make it easy to access and use different ship sections and systems. But if not using Control Panel (like I dont), everything should still be usable fairly easily. But its a big ship so not everything is clustered in one location. MCP is honestly great getting around this ship so you should consider getting that with Ilmarinen.

About the lights - I tried to go easy on them as these bigger ships can be hard on your FPS as they are. Lights are done using MEDIUM shadow settings.
