Ridgeback Skiff

Presenting the Ridgeback Skiff, the latest build from Filbert Shipyards!

The Ridgeback Skiff is a heavy lift HV carrier designed to ferry HV's to a planet (High G planets too!) and back to the Quickstrike LX-3 combat carrier. Both the Ridgeback and the Quickstrike have teleporters allowing the user to hop back and forth between them while involved in ground assault.

The Ridgeback is setup to be both a HV carrier and FOP (Forward Operating Position) after the HV's have been offloaded. The Ridgeback has solar power capabilities and i found that when in standby mode this thing was charging its batteries on a temperate planet 6au+ from its parent star! This combined with a decent fuel tank will allow for long-term idle operation while you engage in POI raiding.

For hotter drops the Ridgeback is equipped with the new (for 1.3) compact CV shield providing it with a 5,000 hp shield. The Ridgeback also has a cannon turret for drone swatting and a pair of under-mount sentries for ground troops. While i wouldn't recommend using the Ridgeback for combat (its a support CV afterall) it is capable of defending itself in light combat.

The real selling point here though (aside from the teleporter that is) is the lift capabilities. The Ridgeback can handle multiple HV's and a lot of cargo (it has a full 320,000 on-board cargo system). In testing i was able to deliver my Mastodon HV to the surface of a 5.1 G lava world and return to orbit with relative ease. Even when loaded with an HV tank at 5G the Ridgeback still had 400 tons of remaining cargo lift. This should be more than adequate for most of the High-G planets you'll come across in survival in Reforged EDEN.

This BP does require a Compact CV shield. To find one in-game (as they are not craftable for the time being) hunt down a Sunat Corvette. The sunat is an easy target and has a Compact CV shield that is located in the forward bridge compartment inset in the ceiling just ahead of the core.
