The Siren
Fanfiction.... At it's direst point in the Zirax conflict, under heavy attack in all of it's Galactic trade sectors, The UCH had more new recruit pilots than aircraft for them to fly, Enter The Siren, a mothballed airframe from yesteryear, the Siren was the brainchild of UCH scientist H.R. Vermillion, originally a jump platform for early warp-challenged transports, Vermillion recognized the crafts seperation clutch created a unique radar profile, that of 1 ship following another. Seeing the crafts potential, he set about reworking the ships rear airframe with radar deflecting angles and absorbing paint. The result was a radar profile that gave the Siren the appearance of a small Sub-warp transport. UCH immediately repurposed and assigned the Siren to it's new pilots, tasking them with using the Siren to ensnare, kill, and salvage pirates and zirax raiders, that they may both prove their piloting meddle, and acquire on their own the firepower needed to join the Larger conflict. End fanfiction....
The Starter CV that Killed Tovera.
This is my new build, it was purposed to fill a combat-specific niche in my lineup for a starter CV. I wanted a starter CV that didn't need to be replaced as soon as I was ready for CV on CV combat. The Siren is a cannibal ship, with the addition of only improved CPU's it will mount 24 Cannon turrets & drill the Generators out of a Frigate or Sunat in about 1 minute, while sparing all of the turrets ( attack from their top or bottom at less than 500 meters and hold a constant position ) for your salvage. After just 1 fight you'll have the loot to upgrade it to a Tier 3 or higher variant that can kill quantum-carrying vessels. So you can go from Starter CV to nearly end-game in about 2 hours ( fight + salvage + repair time ).
The Siren has emplacements for over 40 flush turret mountings, all of which fire on the forward reticle.
It comes with everything you'd expect of a starter CV, plus more, at a regular starter CV price, the difference is, this starter CV has a refined combat-specific airframe. You get light but well-spaced armor all down the nose, every vital component & all of the ships turrets are in the rear 1/3rd of the ship, reducing collateral damage and ensuring maximum operational life while under heavy fire. You have a double Heavy glass barrier between your armored nose and the ships main body, and a mix of tiered armor on most front-facing features that would be expected to take collateral damage. The engines are buried in the wings and the nacelles ( room for expansion to large engines ) and are completely safe from fire provided you keep your enemy in front of you. The same goes for every other part of your ship.
The ship maintains maximum Lift, Forward & backward thrust for top speeds as you roll over your enemy and make distance adjustments with forward/backward, it has very good roll, too, for dodging incoming non-homings. Once you've added a couple of dozen turrets, you'll want to supplement it's thrust with an additional 2 medium engines for Forward, Back, and Lift ( up ), but it will run all 40 potential turrets with Only 8ish Medium engines on those 3 directions, and only 4 engines Down and 3 Left/right, making the craft cheaper to acquire & maintain than any other combat ship. Moreover after an initial adjustment, the ship never lost an engine thereafter in a dozen engagements, even to Tovera or battling multiple craft at once.
This ship defeated Tovera with the loss of only 8 turrets ( 20% ), it's a highly light and efficient fighting tool, and due to it's light nature and efficient design, is available as a starter CV.
The Siren comes standard with all 24 Solar panels and a capacitor, No fuel? no problem, just go to an O Class system and do some mining while your Batteries charge, around O class and similar stars your solar will pull up to 5.66 Kilowatts of power, while you consume just 0.9 Kilowats at full speed, meaning you can also use the ship for refining crushed rock into Ore and Ore into ingots, at no Fuel cost, while you're accomplishing tasks. In most other systems the ship will maintain around 0.7 to 1 Kilowatt of Solar energy, & the craft has a Low-energy setting in the main control panel, it will run at .5 Kilowatts with it's Turrets still on, so you can leave her floating in space while you take your SV on a mission at no energy cost ( in fact it'll gain fuel ). You have a nice 3x3 space in front of the top bridge to place either a Multi or Drill turret, so that this is an infinitely versatile multirole craft, it was designed specifically to kill and salvage early enemy ships, but it's light-weight nature & solar efficiency means it can Mine, refine, & haul ore better than most ships designed specifically for that purpose.
The ship has 3x 320k Storage, 1 Ammo Controller @ 320k for over 90 minutes of continuous fire. 2 Other storage ( marked in green flourescence in the roof of your Hv hangar, insert your controller ), It has the lift, thrust & cargo capacity to transport TWO fully salvaged ships back to your base for deconstruction. & because I like to give you guys everything, of course, it has an expansive Hv hangar and a respectable SV landing pad, both protected by the ships silhoette or armor.
If all that wasn't enough, of course I managed to put an Advanced constructor AND a gravity generator in, while still keeping it under 400k CPU, so you can make new parts and upgrade your ship at will, no barebones role-specific nonsense here, you get everything you need to maintain a constant presence in Space with this craft. Did I mention it has grow plots? 2 - 3x3's with redundant ventillators independent to the ships main room, so if it loses an airlock, your plants don't.
