Technically the DS-57A mining vessel, its nickname comes from the resemblance to the cockpit and chassis somewhat resembling a turtle poking its head from its shell. Regardless of designation the Terrapin has proven a popular vessel as it is cheap, power efficient and far faster and manoeverable than similar costed miners and is favoured by prospecting ventures that are involved in space and planetary mining as it copes well with both.

Features:

18k+ total storage Light shield 2 Gatling guns for planetary drones/gribblies

Notes

Large thrusters are quite useful. Not only because they allow very fast speeds in space and are CPU and energy efficient but the boost function also allows you to move your SV if overloaded and/or in high gravity. Ship flight has been tested up to 5.1G where it can still fly about fairly well albeit more slowly. Mining at very high gravity is not recommended unless you have another vessel nearby to transfer the mined ores to as their weight will affect movement quite quickly. It does mean it is a reasonable scout craft for higher gravity worlds when you do not have a dedicated exploring vessel. The boost speed is useful to get places faster in space, but also for outrunning swarms of drones or to chase down individual drones.

Upgradeability

Terrapin is not designed for further upgrading per se. It is easy to add extenders replacing exterior layer carbon if you want to without losing finctionality and thrusters/weapons can be added the same way.
