About

An optional graphics pack for Diesel Locomotive Continued: replaces the diesel locomotive's sprite with a custom 3D-rendered Intercity 125 power car — fitting, since the real IC125 was itself a diesel-electric train. Install alongside the main mod; no settings needed. Remove it at any time to return to the standard amber livery.

A Note on How This Was Made

Like the rest of the Continued family, this mod was assembled with the assistance of Claude (Anthropic AI — Sonnet 5 and Fable 5). The author (Ramasees) provided the 3D model preparation, all in-game testing, and design direction throughout; the render pipeline (Blender → sprite sheets → prototype tuning) was developed through iterative dialogue, including the usual dead ends and eventual breakthroughs. If you're curious about AI-assisted mod development, this is another real-world example.

What's in 0.1.0

• Custom 3D-rendered Intercity 125 power car: 256 rotation frames, HR body layer plus a separately rendered ground-shadow layer
• Render calibrated side-by-side against the base-game locomotives for size, brightness, shadow direction and shadow length
• Coupling geometry retuned (joints moved outboard) so the longer body reads correctly on straights and curves
• Vanilla wheel sprites removed — the model's own bogies are part of the render, so nothing slides out from under the body on corners

Known Issues

1. Mirrored livery text on one side — the current model is a placeholder; the texture atlas mirrors the "Intercity 125" lettering on one flank. A corrected model is planned.
2. No recolouring yet — manual colour is disabled because the model has no tintable livery materials yet. Planned for a future update.
3. Slight bogie misalignment on tight curves — inherent to Factorio's rigid pre-rendered rolling stock sprites; minimised via joint tuning.
