Eldritch Engineering is a cosmic horror/lovecraftian mod for Factorio 2.0 (Space Age). In the middle of your industrial factory, a cosmic rift has torn open. Investigate dark technologies and fight for your sanity while uncovering the secrets of the Necronomicon.

🔮 What to Expect? (Core Features)

• 25 New Technologies & Missions: Unravel the Necronomicon chapter by chapter.
• 20+ New Items & Consumables: Ranging from psychic drugs to abyssal combat gear.
• 10+ Custom Entities: Build Reality Rifts, Eldritch Altars, Cosmic Beacons, and dormant Obelisks.

📖 Necronomicon Tech Tree

The core of your journey. Research up to 25 forbidden Chapters throughout your travels across different planets. Through the Eldritch Altar, you will forge Necronomicon Pages by mixing dark essence with the rigors of your production. Each research will require you to deliver heavy industrial tributes into the Reality Rift.

🧠 Sanity & Phobia Mechanics

Do not gaze too long into the void. Your Sanity will be passively tested throughout your gameplay.

• Low sanity will invoke night terrors and bizarre events to haunt your factory.
• Regain your senses by resting near an Eldritch Torch or by using chemical drugs like the Psychic Infusion.

🌠 The "Colour Out of Space"

One of the great cosmic tales has become tangible in the Factorio universe! Over time, radioactive Abyssal Meteors will fall onto your map. Upon striking the ground, they break the earth's crust and reveal the Colour Out of Space (in the form of Abyssal Ore). Mine this radioactive purple anomaly and smelt it into Abyssal Plates to build alien equipment.

🌀 Reality Rift and Combustion

The Rift demands sacrifices.

• Cosmic Fluids: Use heavy Portal Stabilizers to suck the matter out of the rift and connect it to the unstable core.
• Tributes: Insert the items designated by your visions into the Rift to progress your dark knowledge.
• Be Quick: Take too long to pacify the Rift and dimensional beings will attempt to invade and devour your factory.

🗼 Dormant Obelisks

Wherever your factory goes, the Great Old Ones have already been. Restore Eldritch Obelisks scattered across planetary surfaces. It is said that, with the right sacrifices and energy stabilization, they can allow the bravest engineers to leap from one planet to another... with severe mental costs, of course.

⚠️ BETA TEST NOTICE (IMPORTANT!)

This mod is currently in BETA. Before signing your blood pact, please know:

1. Limited Compatibility Testing: This mod has not been widely tested with overhaul mods (Krastorio 2, Space Exploration, Bob's/Angel's, etc.). We recommend using it mostly with Vanilla Factorio/Space Age or just Quality of Life (QoL) mods.
2. Possibility of Crashes: The event code dealing with multiple planets, sanity, and custom GUIs might cause errors in extreme edge cases.
3. Do not install on precious saves: It's a dense mod that introduces permanent fluids and alters resource generation on all maps. Do not add it to your 500-hour megabase save. Start a new game!
4. Editor/Godmode: Using map editors or cheats might desync the technology progression events. Use at your own risk.
5. AI Usage Disclaimer: Translation portuguese to english were generated using AI. If you are strictly against the use of AI in mods, this mod might not be for you.

Changes:

• To increase enemy diversity and horror, we highly recommend installing the "Rampant" and "Armoured Biters" mods. We added direct integration: killing elite monsters from these mods now gives massive drop rates for Dark Essence.

• Critical Bug Fix (Soft-lock): Fixed a major issue where the basic Abyssal Plate recipe automatically required Dark Essence. Since standard furnaces in Factorio 2.0 cannot handle multiple input ingredients, this made Abyssal Plates impossible to craft on Nauvis, soft-locking the entire early game.
• Smelting & Metallurgy Adjustments: Both the standard Abyssal Plate recipe and the advanced Vulcanus recipe (abyssal-plate-vulcanus) now correctly ignore the Dark Essence auto-injection. They now require only Abyssal Ore (and Calcite for Vulcanus).
