About Manifold
From Factorio Mod PortalPowered item networks, portable storage and autocrafting with real machines. Start with copper conduits, grow into regional train logistics and near-instant vanilla endgame transport. Space Age is optional.
Manifold
From copper conduits to a connected factory. Build powered transport networks, centralize your stock and request production from real machines.

This update: crafting and sandbox improvements
Craft directly from the storage terminal, search/sort attached recipes and see how many additional items your available materials can produce. Click for one item or Shift-click for ten. Furnaces are supported after they have run the desired recipe once; supply burner fuel separately. Machines receive ingredient batches to reduce repeated transport waits. Component windows now also work in remote Blueprint Sandbox views.
Breaking change: Pattern Encoders are removed, including placed encoders and stored items in existing saves, without refund. Reconnect any resulting network gaps with conduits. Interfaces discover recipes without an encoder; existing interface pins and CPU preferences remain.
Build a connected factory
- Powered transport: tile-adjacent networks with shared bandwidth, delivery latency, physical buffers and recoverable interrupted transfers.
- Central storage: portable 16- and 64-slot cells, four-bay drives, searchable terminals and storage buses for real chests.
- Smart logistics: item/quality filters, priorities, stock targets and circuit conditions.
- Machine crafting: discover selected recipes, plan dependencies and reserve physical ingredients. Your machines do every craft with their own time and power.
- Regional freight: coordinate providers, requesters and depot trains while inserters load real wagons.
- Advanced hardware: reach a six-tick minimum local packet delay through vanilla endgame research.
- Optional Space Age: planetary research, freshness-preserving native transfers and native rocket/platform material requests.
- Original artwork: animated industrial machinery, directional views and matching shadows.
Your first network
Research Basic Manifold networks after Automation. Place an uninterrupted line of source chest → input interface → copper conduit → powered controller → copper conduit → output interface → destination chest.
Use one controller per connected network and one adjacent external inventory per interface. Default transport begins after two seconds and is capped at 20 items/s per source and shared connection. Click a component or press Ctrl+M to inspect it.
Next, add central storage, filtering or a crafting CPU. The player guide walks through each step.
Compact freight with Resource Compressor Extended
Pair Manifold with Resource Compressor Extended to move compressed bundles, store them centrally and request production through real press inventories. The two mods share a worn-metal industrial style and also work independently.
Both game branches passed joint native compression, dependency crafting, compressed-item transport and save/reload tests, with and without Space Age. Choose explicit recipe preferences when compression, unpacking or bulk recipes share an output.
Compressor setup and compatibility
Preview scope
Autocrafting supports deterministic recipes with one item result and up to eight nonspoilable item ingredients, without modules. Fluids and probabilistic recycling/quality production are outside its current scope. Digital storage rejects perishables and metadata-bearing items.
Multiplayer, long campaigns, arbitrary overhauls and complete rocket/platform voyages remain unverified. Three transport hardware tiers currently ship; the original five-stage design remains a longer-term target.
