English
Your ship is your only base. Planets are places you visit, not places you live.
Spacefarer turns Space Age into a game about flying. You start in orbit above Nauvis on a small platform with a hub, one thruster and a handful of machines. There is no factory on the ground, and there never will be: mining drills are gone, building on planets is forbidden, and everything you make, you make on deck.
Start a new game and pick the "Space Start" scenario. The mod does nothing in freeplay — it will tell you so if you try.
What you do
- Fly. Every resource lives on a route. Tungsten asteroids ride the
Nauvis–Vulcanus lane, holmium the Fulgora lane, lithium and Aquilo ice the far periphery. The map is the tech tree.
- Trade. Every planet has a market: a permanent stock of what it is
famous for, plus five rotating goods and six things it currently buys. Prices are computed from recipes, not hand-written, so a nuclear reactor costs what a nuclear reactor is made of. Profit comes from geography and from trust, not from arbitrage — the spread between planets is deliberately zero.
- Take contracts. Seven kinds: deliveries, asteroid and production
contracts, rush jobs, surveys, nest clearing, salvage runs. Each planet offers one at a time, and what it offers depends on how far you have got — no planet asks for what you cannot reach.
- Earn trust. Reputation per planet, 0–100, four tiers. It unlocks
harder contracts, cuts market prices by up to a quarter, and gives you a reason to come back instead of skimming everyone once.
- Win by getting out. The condition is the vanilla one — bring a
platform to the edge of the solar system — but here it is the whole point rather than a late errand: that ship started as a hub and two assemblers, and you flew it there. The game does not end at the screen: the shattered planet, full trust and the outpost's brutal contracts are still ahead.
What is different
- Six new asteroid types with their own crushing chains — tungsten,
holmium, lithium, Aquilo ice, stone, uranium. Their technologies unlock by collecting ten chunks, not by paying science.
- A greenhouse grows Gleba's crops on deck; the seed comes back whole.
- Cargo bays accept inserters and wires through an invisible port, so
your hold is not stuck to eight sides of the hub.
- The hub gets its own window: a summary by item instead of two thousand
slots, your inventory beside it, and the ship's schedule in the mission log where the routes are planned.
- Personal logistics work off the hold, deconstructed machines keep
their contents, and arrival at a planet is announced instead of silently happening while you look elsewhere.
- Whole branches are gone because there is nothing for them to do:
rockets and second platforms, mining drills, construction and combat robots, artillery, lightning rods, agriculture towers, tree planting and fish breeding, wood, and infinite upgrades that improve things the game no longer has.
Difficulty
One setting, chosen before the game starts, four levels. Two comforts are at stake — inserter access to cargo bays, and logistic robots (the construction ones are gone at every level, on every deck). Easy gives you both; brutal gives you neither, and the ship is built by hand.
Experimental: single asteroid
A separate setting, off by default, replaces the six asteroid types with one. That asteroid has a single crushing recipe which yields iron, carbon, copper, ice, sulfur and calcite from the first day, while stone, tungsten, holmium, uranium, lithium and Aquilo ice are added to the same recipe by research. Nothing needs sorting by type any more: the collector catches one thing and the crusher outputs everything — which makes asteroid logistics markedly simpler, and is the whole point of trying it. The same number of rocks arrives; the weight of the removed types is carried over to the one that stays.
Turning it on converts a game already in progress — rocks, chunks, inserter filters, circuit conditions and turret priority lists are moved onto the single asteroid. Turning it off is safe on any day: the world stays intact and crushers return to vanilla crushing. It is off by default because it changes what the whole asteroid chain is about, and that is a choice worth making deliberately.
Requires
Factorio 2.0 and Space Age. Russian and English localisation.
While the mod is enabled its prototype changes apply to every save, so keep it off for vanilla games.
