Train Container

Train Container lets you merge straight rows or columns of chests into a single large container.

It is designed mainly for train stations and large logistics areas where many adjacent steel chests would otherwise be required.

Blueprint Behavior

When a normal Train Container is copied or added to a blueprint, it is automatically recorded as the equivalent row of steel chests.

This allows Factorio's normal blueprint rotation and mirroring to work correctly.

When the blueprint is placed, normal steel chests are created. They are not automatically merged back into a Train Container; use the merge tool again if desired.

Quality and supported circuit connections are preserved in the blueprint.

Performance

Once created, a Train Container is a normal Factorio container entity.

The mod does not use on_tick processing or continuously scan containers. Merging multiple chests into a single entity can also reduce the number of chest entities in large builds.

Usage

1. Place two or more steel chests in a straight, contiguous row or column.
2. Use the Train Container Merge Tool to select them.
3. They are replaced by a single Train Container.
4. Select an existing Train Container with the same tool to split it back into chests.

Only straight 1 x N and N x 1 layouts are supported.

Compatibility

Tested with Factorio 2.0.77.
