About Wood Pyrolysis
From Factorio Mod PortalAdds wood pyrolysis as an early-game alternative to petroleum. Decompose wood into Biochar, Pyrolysis Oil, and Wood Gas, then refine via Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis and Bio-Oil Distillation into light oil, heavy oil, and methanol. Methanol converts into plastic bars (Bakelite Synthesis) or solid fuel. Recipes use vanilla Chemical Plant and Oil Refinery, with optional Cryogenic Plant support for Space Age.
Wood Pyrolysis
Convert wood into a full suite of chemical feedstocks — no crude oil required. Thermally decompose wood in the Chemical Plant to unlock an independent production chain for plastics, liquid fuels, and solid fuel, all based on real industrial chemistry that predates the petroleum era.

- 50 Pyrolysis Oil → 15 Heavy Oil + 20 Methanol + 15 Water
Bakelite Synthesis (Chemical Plant)
- 20 Methanol + 1 Coal → 2 Plastic Bars
Methanol-to-Fuel (Chemical Plant)
- 50 Methanol → 1 Solid Fuel
