The first map I've ever made from absolute scratch, an interior of a house ported from a popular Unreal Engine asset also known as Atmospheric House.

This hasn't been ripped from Phasmophobia, Ghost Watchers, Ready Or Not, VRChat or any other game for that matter. All these games just have used the exact same marketplace asset as I have.

The map has working cubemaps, a navmesh and NPC nodes.

The process of porting game levels from modern game engines to archaic Source Engine is not exactly straightforward and it takes some time to get right.

I built the map from brushes based on a model reference that I exported from UE5 and ported the assets one by one after that. I half-assed most of the props and didn't bother implementing the specular / roughness maps to the materials simply because I just wanted to get it over with as quickly as possible.

For the very same reason the map layout is not fully identical to the original asset, there's no extra details like decals or clutter, two rooms were left fully unfurnished, no basement, no soundscapes and the list goes on. There's also a visible shader issue with one of the door models due to normals that I accidentally inverted.

I'm not satisfied with the quality of this map, but I'm glad to see that many people still seem to like it.

My skills and experience have grown massively over this past year and nowadays I could do much better than this, but I have no plans to remake this map simply because my main focus shifted to other highly ambitious projects that I'm still actively working on to this day.
