I Am The One Who Knocks

A crime career for ALIVE, run from a burner phone. Build a list of buyers, climb from street seller to kingpin, cook in an RV or a Superlab, wash your cash through a front, and stay ahead of a DEA agent. Made-up goods, made-up supplies, no real chemistry: every step is a game system.

This add-on does nothing on its own. Subscribe to ALIVE (Workshop 3769271100) too. Without it, it prints one line in the console and stays off.

Hard goods are OFF by default

Out of the box only soft goods can be dealt: herb from ALIVE's farm, plus DurgzMod's soft items if it is installed. The cook (Blue Sky), the cook partner, the NPC cook and the Superlab need the host to set oneknocks_dealing_hard 1.

G-cell (GBad OS), the phone

Buy a burner from Trader 07. The handset reads G-cell. TAB then O opens it in the corner and you keep playing. Apps: MESSAGES, TRADING, CONTACTS, MAP, WALLET, FRONT, SUPPLY, COOK, EMPIRE, HEAT, ALIVE and SETTINGS. FRONT, EMPIRE and HEAT show up when their part is on.

• Trading (v4.16). Buy and sell from anywhere. Fill a cart; a Gman walks it to you and drops a box only you can open. Sell: he comes with a bag. You pay (or get paid) when he reaches you, never before. 90 s and he can't reach you? No money taken. No phone trading in a fight or with heat. Walking to Trader 07 always works.
• Calls. Your burner has a number. Dial from the pad or a contact. Ringing, answer, decline, busy, no answer and missed calls all work.
• Texts. Orders, replies, texts to players, and texts from Trader 07, Mr. Sorrel and your lawyer, each in its own thread.
• Service lines. Trader 07 (555-0107) talks on the line. Your lawyer (555-0119) takes calls while a DEA case is open.
• People. Your party is in your phone. Others: look at them, "Give my number".
• Payphones. No burner needed, number hidden, never tapped, a small fee.
• Quiet modes. Do Not Disturb, Silent, ring tones, mute. Texts that come in while you are busy are saved.
• One rule. The phone stays shut while you are dead, knocked down, waking up or under arrest. A cuffs add-on can block it too.
• oneknocks_gbad_settings - open the phone Settings from console, Q -> Utilities, or the C menu (v4.2).
• oneknocks_hold_measure and oneknocks_hold_debug 1 - show where the phone hold puts eyes, screen and hand (bug reports).
• Your style. Six themes. Hide apps with oneknocks_phone_hide (a comma list). The old full-screen switch oneknocks_phone_classic is retired (always G-cell).

The trade

• Buyers. Strangers buy a little and take your number. Contacts text orders: what, how many, where, by when. Trust and fear grow per contact.
• Four ranks. Street Seller, Supplier, Distributor, Kingpin. Each pays better and opens a new chapter of texts.
• Purity, crew, grow room. Golden harvests and a HOUSE crib grow cleaner herb. Party members at a meet take a 15% cut.
• The RV lab. From Distributor: park a camper anywhere and cook Blue Sky in a short skill game. COOK shows your batch.
• A cook partner. A party friend presses E at your RV's back door while you cook and works his own needle. Both green adds purity. The batch splits 60/40.
• An NPC cook. At Kingpin, hire a cook (2,000). He cooks alone in your parked RV, one Chem Drum a batch, and keeps 1 of 5. At burning heat he may talk.
• Your cook's look. Give your hired cook any player model, a skin, a tint and a name: COOK (Cook's look), E on him, or oneknocks_cooklook. Free.
• Hazmat suit and gas mask. Wear the mask or cough while you cook. The suit is safe at the lab and draws cops in the street.
• Dirty cash and the front. Dealing money is dirty. A car wash (4,000) or a laundromat (9,000) washes some clean each minute, for a fee. A raid fines dirty cash first, never clean. FRONT shows it all.
• The Superlab. At Kingpin with a HOUSE crib (15,000): 3 Chem Drums in, 20 Blue Sky out, no smoke.
• Mr. Sorrel, the Distributor. He wants 12 Blue Sky every 2 hours of your play. Meet his man at a pin and get paid. Fall short and he sends men after you. EMPIRE tracks his week.
• The look. A pork-pie hat at Supplier and sunglasses at Distributor, in ALIVE's LOOK list.

The risk

• One heat meter. Private. Sales add to it, time cools it. More heat, more police stars.
• Undercovers. An order that pays far too well is the tell. Take it and you are busted.
• Rivals. An armed man wants your corner. Pay, talk or fight.
• Raids. Burning heat with goods at home brings a warning, then police at your crib. Online players only.
• The DEA agent. Heat 85+ for 3 minutes opens a case. Special Agent Conrad Pell follows your trail, checks your RV and your Superlab, and at 90 comes to arrest you. Cool off, lose him, or call your lawyer. HEAT follows the case.
• Income caps. Dealing pays at most 20/40/60/80 credits a minute by rank, so honest work stays worth it.

Optional add-ons

DurgzMod (its items become phone goods), an RV model add-on (else a stock HL2 camper), and simfphys or LVS vans as a mobile lab (hook OneKnocksLabVehicle).
