Morbus: Reborn is an update to Morbus by Remscar, a social deduction survival horror.
Set in space, Humans are pitted against Brood Aliens who resemble Humans. Humans must identify and kill all Brood Aliens or survive till round’s end. Hindering this, Humans must periodically manage Human “Needs”, such as sleeping, eating, pissing, and showering.
Brood Aliens want to infect all Humans before rounds end and without dying out themselves.
Both Humans and Brood Aliens have access to a wide variety of weapons, items, upgrades, and assistive roles (such as the Cyborg for Humans and Swarms for Aliens) in order to counter the other side.
Key Changes 🚀
Morbus: Reborn includes several additions, balance changes, and quality of life changes over the original Morbus. A change log is located here. To name a few changes:
- Added Cyborg role! Cyborgs are a verified Human who have no Human Needs, have an infinite flashlight, and cannot be infected into Brood Alien.
- Reworked Swarm spits! Swarm spits/abilities are on a timer based system, where every 2 minutes and 30 seconds a new wave of Swarm upgrades are unlocked.
- Reworked and rebalanced Brood Alien upgrade tree! Added tier 3 upgrades. A wider variety of playstyles are viable now, from Attack Brood to Invis Brood to Defence Brood. Play how you like!
- Reworked Human weapons and inventory! Human weapons and items have been re-balanced to encourage a variety of play styles rather than one-gun/item-is-best. Humans can now carry medkits, glowsticks, and grenades, instead of one single item. Medkits have been reworked to encourage team play, healing more if other players are healed. Vitamins are added, which delay needs.
Motivation 🛠️
Major motivations for the Reborn update include:
- Making the game easier to play for all skill levels and all roles through simplifying and clarifying elements of Morbus.
- Taking community feedback into account for balance changes (IceFrog game design philosophy)
- Encourage more playstyles for both Humans (run and gun, social deduction, medic and utility, etc) and Aliens (Attack/Defence/Invis Brood, Grenade/Rocket-Launcher Brood, any style of Swarm play).

Lore for Morbus: Reborn 📖🪶
Reborn takes place in its own subsection of the Morbus universe.
Human survival in this arm of the galaxy is sustained by a massive logistical system known as “The Network”. Every hub of human activity -- be it spaceships, mining communities, outputs and installations -- are known as "Nodes". The Network is responsible for its Nodes, providing a flow of assistives, resources, and information to fight back against the Brood Aliens. Nodes are then mandated by the Network to engineer weaponry, utilities, and tactical strategies for countering Brood Aliens. They are further tasked with propagating new Nodes and are required to maintain strict hygiene and Human care protocol.
The Network reports increasing outages of vital Nodes and the links between them. Reliable data is hard, if not impossible, to obtain from deactivated Nodes. Several hypotheses attempt to explain this development; perhaps Aliens are undergoing evolutionary processes at breakneck speeds, or perhaps Hives, a mechanism for Swarm reproduction, reanimate despite a Node’s elimination of Brood Alien threats. Perhaps it’s simple Human incompetence. Or perhaps the Network’s information collection apparatus is not all that it’s cut out to be.
We live in uncertain times.

FAQ
Weapons aren't showing up on my game, what gives?
This is likely accompanied by the warning "Warning! No arming file detected! Server Owners should ensure Server has an arming file associated with the current map!". Usually this means that no arming file is in your gmod maps folder. To get the arming file, join the Morbus Discord to get a copy of the arming file, then place the arming file in your gmod maps folder. Ensure that the arming file is of the format `MAP_NAME_morbus.txt` (do not include .bsp extension).
