I don't actually know how to write Lua files, but I really love the stealth mechanics of Splinter Cell, so I had AI help me write this mod. The screenshots are old version of this, and I will gradually update these photos.
1. Perception
- Vision cone. - Light perception: guards see a shorter distance in darkness; the player's own flashlight exposes them. - Motion detection: moving targets are spotted faster than stationary ones — standing still buys you time.
- NPCs can hear footsteps and gunshots. - Suppressor detection: recognizes suppressed weapons (TFA Base); suppressed shots are only audible at short range with low suspicion — you can assassinate up close without alerting distant guards.
- Near-miss: a bullet whizzing past a guard's ear alerts them. - Breakables: shattering glass and other breakables make nearby guards suspicious and investigate.
2. Detection & Confirmation (the heart of stealth)
- Detection build-up (watchdog-style): while continuously looking at the player, a guard's "spot progress" rises. - Report delay: after confirming detection, the guard needs "report time" (default 1.5s) to call the whole team. - Recoverable alert: evade the search and suspicion decays back to routine patrol. - Last-known-position memory (Splinter-Cell-style): once you break line of sight, guards only remember where they last saw you and search there. This is the stealth invariant the whole addon preserves.
3. Squads & Coordination
- Squad coordination: nearby guards auto-form squads; one spotting the player reports to the whole squad. - Patrol grouping: calm patrols move in groups of at least 2. - When a squad is down to 1–2 survivors, they switch to a "broken" defensive stance — hugging cover, not advancing, and call for reinforcement over a wider radius.
4. Combat Behavior
- Finding covers. - Suppression penalty: getting hit lowers shooting proficiency - During firefights, members are split into waves (half advance, half cover with guns up); the #2 flanker circles to the side. - On a teammate's report, the whole squad enters combat (not just the spotter), coordinated to advance / flank /overwatch / suppress. - Corner peeking. - Door control: stack up before entry, listen, and throw a flashbang to enter. - Buttonhook entry: two enter and each clears one corner; sweep the room and mark it cleared. - Cordon: half clear the room, the rest cover the other doors. - Line-of-fire discipline: if a teammate blocks your shot, shift briefly instead of firing through them.
