AI teammates that work with custom weapon traders.

A server-side bots mutator. Bots join the human team, fight zeds, follow players, buy gear at the trader and leave again as real players fill the server. Nothing is required on the client side.

The one design decision that sets this mod apart: bots shop from the LIVE trader list of the running server. There are no hardcoded weapon names anywhere, so a trader stocked exclusively with custom or workshop weapons works out of the box - the bots simply buy whatever your trader actually sells.

Features

 • Bot count scales down as human players join (NumBots minus humans, with a MinimumBots floor)
 • Bots buy weapons and armor from the live trader list at real prices with their own dosh - custom weapon traders fully supported, with white/blacklists and perk matched purchases
 • NavMesh movement: bots chase zeds, kite away from close threats, sidestep incoming fire, open doors, follow the nearest player, and unstick themselves by teleporting to a teammate
 • Configurable aim jitter and headshot preference, so bots are neither aimbots nor useless
 • Bots avoid waking calm Scrakes and Fleshpounds, sprint while travelling, reload on empty mags, switch weapons when dry
 • Bots heal themselves out of combat, heal injured players nearby, reinforce welds a player started, and stand in map objectives
 • Zed count scaling: each bot adds a configurable fraction of a player to the wave size
 • Occasional canned chat lines (fully editable, off switch included)
 • Dead bots respawn when the trader opens (or mid-wave if you enable it)

Install

Add the mutator to your server launch line:

?Mutator=DKBots.DKBotsMut

Full configuration reference (KFDKBots.ini)
The config file is created on first launch with these defaults and migrates itself on updates.

Population and economy

NumBots=5 - bots that spawn, reduced by the number of human players

MinimumBots=0 - bots that always stay regardless of humans

bBotsRespawnDuringWave=False - allow mid-wave respawns

BotStartDosh=450 / BotDoshPerWave=400 - bot income

bBotsUnlimitedCash=False - bots ignore prices

bBotsUnlimitedAmmo=True - weapons kept topped up

ZedCountScaling=0.2 - each living bot adds this fraction of a player to the wave size (0 = bots never increase waves)

BotNames - the name pool
Perks and weapons

BotAllowedPerks - perk class names bots may roll, e.g. KFPerk_Commando, KFPerk_FieldMedic. Empty = all perks. One entry = every bot plays that perk. (This is also your bNoZerkerBots: list every perk except KFPerk_Berserker.)

bBotsPreferPerkWeapons=True - bots prefer buying weapons matching their perk

BotPerkWeaponDamageBonus=0.25 - bonus damage with the perk matched weapon (stands in for perk passives)

BotWeaponWhitelist - if non empty, bots buy ONLY these weapon class names (e.g. KFWeap_AssaultRifle_AK12)

BotWeaponBlacklist - weapon class names bots never buy (blacklist wins over whitelist)

BotBuyPriceWindow=0.7 - bots pick among weapons priced at least this fraction of the best they can afford; lower = more variety, 1.0 = always the most expensive

BotDamageScale=1.0 - global multiplier on all bot damage
Combat behavior (aggressive vs passive)

BotTargetRange=10000 - distance at which bots acquire targets

BotEngageRange=1800 / BotMeleeEngageRange=200 - open fire / swing distances

BotLeashDistance=0 - bots ignore zeds farther than this from their escorted player. 0 = no leash (aggressive, bots hunt freely). Around 1500 = defensive escorts that never leave the team.

BotAimError=600 - aim jitter in rotation units (182 = 1 degree, 0 = aimbot)

BotHeadshotChance=0.35 - chance per engagement to aim for the head

bBotsAvoidEnraging=True - do not shoot calm large zeds that are not fighting the team

bBotsKite=True / BotKiteDistance=350 - back away from zeds that get this close while firing

bBotsDodgeOnHit=True - sidestep after taking hits while standing and firing

bBotsCanSprint=True / BotSprintDistance=600 - sprint while travelling
Support behavior

bBotsSelfHeal=True / BotSelfHealAmount=8 - out of combat regeneration per 2s

bBotsHealTeammates=True / BotTeamHealAmount=15 / BotTeamHealCooldown=8 - teammate healing

BotTeamHealThresholdPercent=65 / BotHealRadius=500 - who gets healed and from how far

bBotsDoObjectives=True / BotObjectiveRadius=500 - stand in active map objectives

bBotsAssistWelding=True / BotWeldAmount=20 / BotWeldRadius=300 - reinforce welds a player started (bots never initiate welds)

bBotsOpenDoors=True - open closed, unwelded doors that block their path

BotFollowDistance=350 - how close bots stay to their escorted player

BotStuckTimeout=10 - seconds without progress before teleporting to a teammate
Chat

bBotsChat=True / BotChatChance=0.35 / BotChatCooldown=8

BotChatLinesKill / BotChatLinesHurt / BotChatLinesWave - editable line pools
Compatibility

BotPawnClassName - leave empty to use the running game's pawn class (recommended). Set to KFGame.KFPawn_Human to force the vanilla pawn if another mod's pawn class misbehaves with AI controlled pawns.

Example: defensive medic escorts

BotAllowedPerks=KFPerk_FieldMedic
BotLeashDistance=1500
BotFollowDistance=250
BotTeamHealThresholdPercent=85
BotHealRadius=700
BotTeamHealCooldown=4

Example: aggressive hunters

BotLeashDistance=0
BotTargetRange=12000
BotEngageRange=2200
bBotsAvoidEnraging=False
BotAimError=400
