An attempt to create a lane training map as optimized for performance as possible for low-spec players.
Features a corridor-like beginning lane that snakes out into multiple turns of hallways to both simulate a real map lane and also naturally alleviate line-of-sight pressure from Fleshpounds and Husks (as well as reduce Scrake rages from said Zeds). Max backpedal space is based around Fat Cat's original Corridor map but allows players to drop back into the lane and attempt to kite (albeit dangerously).
Buttons on targets can be shot to do an array of different things by making the player type in specific console commands. The buttons require EnableCheats to be typed into the console, to be in a Controlled Difficulty game mode, or using one of Tamari's Practice Mode servers. Otherwise, they will not function (with the exception of the ready up/skip trader button) and no, you cannot cheat and gain XP using them.
Features
- Give Dosh Button (Requires EnableCheats/CD/Tamari's Practice Mode)
- Open Trader Button (Requires EnableCheats/CD/Tamari's Practice Mode)
- Simulated Sharpshooters Button (Requires Tamari's Practice Mode)
- Auto Extensions Button (Requires Tamari's Practice Mode)
- Infinite Spare Ammo Button (Requires Tamari's Practice Mode)
- End Wave Button (Requires CD/Tamari's Practice Mode)
- Reset to Trader Button (Requires Tamari's Practice Mode)
- Fill Health Button (Requires EnableCheats/CD/Tamari's Practice Mode)
- Fill Armor Button (Requires EnableCheats/CD/Tamari's Practice Mode)
Optimizations
- Uses PCV (Precomputed Visibility, smart visual culling based on player position) to decrease hardware utilization as much as possible.
- Mainly uses custom 1K textures (as opposed to 2K)
- Total actor count (meshes and other entities) minimized via larger modular set meshes fit-to-size and emphasis on Kismet for functionality.
- Basic lighting alongside limiting some meshes abilities to cast shadows or "accept decals" (gun shot holes, scrapes, blood, etc).
- Extremely smooth collisions for Zeds and Players to reduce "snagging" or complex collision calculations (uncertain of impact/validity).
- Plentiful path nodes for large quantities of out-of-sight Zeds (uncertain of impact).
- Probably a couple more things, but if you have any ideas on how to push it, feel free to let me know!
Based on two players' inputs, the average increase in performance (based on FPS) was around 30% from playing Fat Cat's Corridor map, so I can only hope this helps players with older hardware that want to train or practice, be it for CD or just general gameplay.
Using the Map
Solo
You can load the map as you would any map. For parameters sake, you can type this in the console:
open KF-Optorridor?Difficulty=3?GameLength=2
This will launch the map on Hell on Earth and on Long (10 waves). Difficulty is between 0 to 3 (Normal to HoE) and GameLength is 0 to 2 (Short to Long).
Controlled Difficulty
Follow the same console command as shown above except add this parameter:
?game=ControlledDifficulty.CD_Survival
For example:
open KF-Optorridor?game=ControlledDifficulty.CD_Survival?Difficulty=3?GameLength=2
Additional parameters can be added and can be found on almost any publication/variation of Controlled Difficulty.
Tamari's Practice Mode Servers
The map is currently not on the map vote list yet, but I will update when this is. You'd simply vote for the map by typing !vote map in the chat to initiate the map change when in a practice server and vote for it on either game mode you wish to. These servers require you to be in the community Discord in order to access the practice servers.
If you like Killing Floor, Controlled Difficulty, or wonderful and helpful communities, I highly recommend checking out Tamari's KF2 Discord server. It's chock full of some of the most brilliant, talented, and kind people I have ever met in my life and the only community I've ever felt so safe and engaged in. Tamari, Forrest Mark X, and so many other individuals have worked an insane amount to create this environment filled to the brim with new and custom content, QoL changes, resources for growing as a player, and so much more. Show them some love and check 'em out, yeah?

Lastly, thank you for checking this out! I hope it helps you in some way or another. Cheers.Highlights
