Map Vote Cooldown - Prevent Map Repeats

A lightweight server mutator that prevents recently played maps from appearing in the post-game map vote. No more playing the same map over and over.

How It Works

After finishing a game, the current map is removed from the vote screen for a configurable number of map changes. Once enough other maps have been played, the original map returns.

Example (CooldownCount=3):

 • Play SteamFortress → removed from next 3 votes
 • Play BioticsLab → also enters cooldown
 • Play Outpost → also enters cooldown
 • Play Prison → SteamFortress is available again

Features

 • Configurable default cooldown length
 • Per-map cooldown overrides — set popular maps to longer cooldowns, unpopular maps to shorter ones
 • Safety minimum — won't filter if too few maps would remain
 • Persists across server restarts
 • Handles maps with special characters in their name
 • Auto-restores full map list on startup (no maps permanently lost)
 • Zero dependencies — works with vanilla KF2 and any mod

Installation

Subscribe, then add to your server launch parameters:

?Mutator=DKMapCooldown.DKMapCooldownMutator
For multiple mutators:
?Mutator=DKMapCooldown.DKMapCooldownMutator,OtherMod.OtherMutator

Configuration

After first launch, edit KFDKMapCooldown.ini:

[DKMapCooldown.DKMapCooldownMutator]
bEnabled=True
CooldownCount=3
MinAvailableMaps=2

bEnabled — Toggle on/off CooldownCount — Default maps to wait before a map can reappear MinAvailableMaps — Minimum maps that must stay in the vote pool

Per-Map Overrides

You can set custom cooldown values for specific maps. Maps not listed use the default CooldownCount.

MapCooldownOverride=KF-SteamFortress=5
MapCooldownOverride=KF-BioticsLab=1
MapCooldownOverride=KF-KillZone_Corridor=0

Higher number = longer cooldown (must play more maps before it returns) 0 = no cooldown (map is always available regardless of when it was last played)

This lets you keep popular or easy maps from being spammed (give them a high cooldown) while letting less popular maps rotate back in quickly.

Compatibility

Works with all KF2 game modes, Zedternal Reborn, Zedternal Unlimited, and any other mutators.
