Dark Carnival: 28 Years Later
The poster on the fence still says the show must go on.
Twenty-eight summers have passed since the last ride at Whispering Oaks. The highway out front has gone back to forest. Oaks have pushed up through the midway, the rides have rusted where they stopped, and the coaster stands grey in the fog with nobody left to ride it.
Everyone who could leave, left. Everyone else stayed for the show.
They're still here. They never stopped waiting for the next act, and they can hear you coming up the road.
The gates are open. The tickets are free. Nobody has ever asked for a refund.
