DESCRIPTION

¡THIS IS FOR LOCAL SERVERS, not for Official Dedicated Servers!

This V-SCRIPT tweaks several core parameters of all common infected and witches, which share the same AI (nextbots). The script enables infected to update continuously rather than every 0.100 ms as in vanilla, ensuring that players with 0.0 lerp won’t experience lagging or teleporting common infected.

This will negatively affect the performance of the host. Setting the refresh rate to 0.014 ms requires the host to use more resources because it needs to process updates faster than if it were set to 0.100 ms. Although on a mid-range or high-end computer the impact is minor, almost not noticeable, it is likely that Valve has limited this frequency thinking about older computers, from around 2008-2009.

If your PC or connection struggles, hosting a server or running this mod is probably not a great idea.

How to Use:

1. Install the mod. 2. Create a local server. 3. Set the following commands: • cl_interp 0.0 • cl_interp_ratio 0 4. Enjoy :D

FEATURES

• Continuous AI updates for Commons & Witches (No Special Infected) • Smoother commons and witches for low-lerp players • More frequent NextBot state & path updates, making their movement and reactions smoother. • Makes the game harder, since commons get more frequent updates and behave more “smarter”. Small Bonus: • **Unrelated tweak:** Forces "net_maxcleartime" to "0.0001", improving hit registration and reducing choke (tested on low-end PC, works flawlessly).

Known Bugs:

• If sv_cheats is set to 1, the update frequency will reset to its default value (0.100). • With very high update frequencies, common infected may get stuck when trying to climb cars or certain surfaces. They can also remain crouched or frozen on tables or low props (e.g. tables in c1m3_mall during the alarm event, cars and road surfaces in c2m1_highway). • At high tickrates (e.g. 100), this behavior becomes significantly more frequent and, in some cases, common infected will be launched directly into the sky. Vanilla runs at 30 tick, which is why this issue rarely occurs there. Currently, there is no reliable way to fully patch this behavior using VScript alone. However, several SourceMod-based solutions exist, see below for more information.

For SourceMod Users:

• This mod is technically obsolete if you are already using SourceMod. All the convars modified by this VScript can be applied manually using sm_cvar, for example:

- sm_cvar nb_update_frequency 0.014

This can be placed in listenserver.cfg (for local/listen servers) or server.cfg (for dedicated servers).

• That said, if your goal is to fix some of L4D2’s engine jank or improve overall behavior, the following SourceMod plugins are still highly recommended. All credit goes to their original authors.

If you're interested in which convars this mod changes (for example, to use them on your server via sm_cvar or to use the mod cvars with admin system), see the list below:

• How frequently nextbots are updated (lower = more frequent updates, default is 0.1). (More frequent updates mean more cpu usage!!) nb_update_frequency 0.014 • Per frame CPU Budget for NextBots (Default: 15) nb_update_framelimit 5 • Maximum number of ticks a NextBot may be deferred past its scheduled update before it's force updated (Default: 2) nb_update_maxslide 1 • NPC forward friction. nb_friction_forward 0 • Fixes commons sliding like ice when turning corners. nb_friction_sideways 10 • Maximum detection range between common infected. z_max_neighbor_range 16 • Fixes witches not rotating if a player is meleeing them from behind. nb_yaw_rate 800 • Minimum value of cl_interp_ratio. sv_client_min_interp_ratio -1 • Maximum value of cl_interp_ratio. sv_client_max_interp_ratio 0 • Max seconds to wait before sending next packets based on rate. Lower values improve hit registration and reduce choke. net_maxcleartime 0.0001
