The Earl: The Executioner

Overview

The Earl replaces the standard Tank with a brutal custom boss built around ranged impalement, survivor executions, balloon-based counterplay, and an aggressive two-phase combat system.

Key Features

• Tank Replacement: The Earl has a 50% chance to spawn in place of a standard Tank, transforming the encounter into a unique boss fight with custom attacks and mechanics.
• Two-Phase Combat: Once reduced below 50% health, the Earl enters his second phase, increasing his movement speed by 15% and focusing his aggression on the survivor with the highest health.
• Sharpshooter Rebar Attack: The Earl can launch a construction rebar projectile at survivors from 400-800 units away, dealing difficulty-scaled damage and pinning the victim to nearby surfaces when possible.
• Survivor Execution: After successfully pinning a survivor, the Earl closes the distance and performs a brutal execution sequence, temporarily immobilizing both himself and his victim before delivering the finishing blow.
• Balloon Counterplay: The Earl carries a set of destructible balloons with 150 health. Destroying them interrupts his execution, releases the captured survivor, and has a 50% chance to stagger the Earl.
• Horde Support: Every 30 seconds, the Earl summons 5-8 additional infected around himself, reinforcing the encounter and putting further pressure on the survivors.
• Difficulty Scaling: His maximum health and special attack damage automatically scale with the current difficulty, with values ranging from Easy to Impossible.
• Configurable Mechanics: Spawn chance, movement speed and health can be customized through the configuration file.
