About Beginner's Delight
From ModrinthAutomatically places a cozy starter shelter at world spawn when a new world is created. Includes a bed, starter supplies, and lighting to help new players get through their first night. Uses only vanilla blocks.
🏠 Beginner's Delight - A Safe Start for New Adventurers
Survive your first night with a ready-made starter base!
Beginner's Delight automatically generates a small starter house at the world spawn point, giving new players a safe shelter with essential supplies to begin their Minecraft adventure.
✨ Features
🏡 Starter House at Spawn
- Automatic Generation: A small wooden house appears at the world spawn point when a new world is created
- Survival Essentials: Includes a bed, a chest or barrel with starter items, and torch lighting
- Multiple Designs: Randomly selects from several house variants for variety
- Terrain Adaptive: Placement adjusts to the local terrain surface
🧩 Data Pack Structure Pools
- Modpack-friendly templates: Add, remove, replace, and weight starter-house templates with a data pack
- Loot control per template: Preserve the containers authored in a structure NBT, or opt into Beginner's Delight starter loot for otherwise empty containers
- Village Mode included: The same pool is used for Village Mode player houses
- Guide and examples: See the data pack structure pool guide
📦 Starter Supplies
The starter container — a chest, or a barrel in the one design that has no chest — contains helpful items for early game:
- Food (bread, apples)
- Basic wooden tools
- Torches for lighting
Some house designs come with more than one chest or barrel. Only one of them holds the starter items above; the others are filled with extra supplies: coal, oak planks, torches, and wheat seeds.
🎮 Multiplayer Ready
- Works on both singleplayer and multiplayer servers
- All players spawn at the same location near the starter house
- The house is generated only once — no duplicates
🏘️ Village Mode (Optional)
- Grows as players join: Enable with
/beginnersdelight village enableand a village forms around the world spawn - A house per player: Each new player gets their own house, connected to the village by dirt paths
- Decoration buildings: Wells, sheds, storehouses, and farms appear as the village grows
- Respawn at home: Players can respawn at their own house
- Configurable: Adjust plot size, path generation, and respawn behavior in a
config/beginnersdelight.tomlfile, reloadable in-game with/beginnersdelight config reload, or via an in-game settings screen on every supported loader and version — NeoForge's or Forge's mod-list "Config" button, ModMenu if installed on Fabric (MC 1.21.1+ only), or an unbound keybinding on any loader; the host player's edits apply immediately for singleplayer/LAN
🎚️ Per-World Toggle
- Choose per world: Uncheck
beginnersdelight:generate_starter_housein the "Game Rules" screen while creating a world to skip the starter house for that world only - Change it later:
/gamerule beginnersdelight:generate_starter_house <true|false> - Pick your default: New worlds default to on; set
[starter_house] auto_generate = falseinconfig/beginnersdelight.tomlto make them default to off - Existing worlds are safe: A house that has already been generated is never removed, and turning the rule on later generates one on the next server start
🔧 Safe to Remove
- Built entirely with vanilla blocks (oak wood, cobblestone, etc.)
- The structure remains intact even after removing the mod
- No custom blocks or items that would cause issues
📖 How It Works
- Create a New World: Start a new world with the mod installed
- Spawn Safely: You'll spawn next to a small house with supplies
- Get Started: Open the chest for starter items and sleep in the bed to set your spawn
- Adventure Awaits: Head out to explore with a safe base to return to!
