Break one log – and the whole tree falls.
WoodCutter is an enchantment for axes. Sneak, break a log with an enchanted axe and the tree falls log by log, its leaves decay within seconds.

How it works

Get the enchantment – enchant an axe or a book for 30 levels: with a chance of 40 % it gets WoodCutter as well.
Sneak and break a log – with the enchanted axe. Without sneaking it is a single log, as always.
The tree falls log by log – from the bottom to the top, as if you had broken every log yourself: the axe takes damage, the logs drop.
Leaves decay, a sapling grows – the leaves are gone within seconds and a new sapling is planted, if you like.

Only the logs above the broken one fall – break the lowest log to cut the whole tree.

Three levels
Higher levels cut bigger trees.

WoodCutter I – 120 logs (60 % at the enchanting table)
WoodCutter II – 180 logs (30 %)
WoodCutter III – 240 logs (10 %)

Axes and books – the enchanting table gives both, a book goes onto an axe in an anvil.
Anvil – two items of the same level become the next level.
Grindstone – removes the enchantment again.
Ranks – a permission like woodcutter.maxblocks.300 raises the limit of a rank.
As a goodie – every axe cuts trees without the enchantment: for all players or with a permission.

The level of the offer, the chance, the limits and the number of levels are settings.

Every tree – oaks, jungle giants, cherry trees and the huge fungi of the Nether, also branches with gaps like those of acacias.
Falling animation – the tree falls log by log from the bottom to the top, or all at once.
Buildings stay – logs that were placed by players are never cut, so the log cabin next to the tree is safe.
Fast leaf decay – the leaves of a cut tree decay within seconds. Placed leaves stay.
Replanting – a new sapling is planted where the tree stood, for free or taken from the inventory of the player.
Drops – logs go straight into the inventory if you like, with a chance that a log drops a second time.
Delay & costs – seconds between two trees, food points or experience levels per tree. Ranks can skip the delay.
Plays well with others – every log is broken as the player: protection, logging and skill plugins see each one of them.
Worlds – switch WoodCutter off in single worlds, by name or with a pattern like sg_*.
Paper & Folia – one jar for both. No other plugin is needed, not even for permissions.
Your texts – every message is in messages.yml, with colors and your prefix.

/woodcutter toggle – switch WoodCutter on or off for yourself
/woodcutter reload – reload the configuration files
/woodcutter enchant [level] – enchant the axe in your main hand
/woodcutter give <player> [book|axe] [level] – give an enchanted book or axe (e.g. diamond_axe), also from the console as a reward

Permissions

The defaults work without a permission plugin: everyone can use WoodCutter, operators manage it.

woodcutter.use – get the enchantment at the enchanting table and cut trees with it (default: everyone)
woodcutter.goodie – cut trees with every axe, without the enchantment (if goodie is set to permission)
woodcutter.bypass.delay – cut trees without the delay between two trees
woodcutter.maxblocks.<amount> – a higher limit of logs per tree, e.g. for ranks
woodcutter.admin – reload, enchant and give (default: operators)
