TARN VALLEY

An 8 km Nordic river valley for Squad, in summer and in fall.

Two mountain ridges, one wide river and everything in between: a city, timber towns, farms, forests, an airfield, a ruined fortress and the scars of old battles. The river runs the full length of the map, from a dam and reservoir in the north to the open south end, and every crossing is worth fighting for. Two complete versions ship together: Summer and Fall.

• Fortified objectives: every capture point is dug in like a real defensive position, with trenches, bunkers, sandbags, HESCO and firing positions covering the approaches.
• Full main bases on the west and east ridges, with helipads, armour bays, logistics trucks and vehicle spawns.
• 250 tickets per team on AAS. Default matchup CAF vs RGF.

Area Of Operations built in

The Area Of Operations game mode comes with the map, so no other mod is needed. Each match picks one area of up to 1 km radius out of 96 spread across the valley, never close to a main base. Hold ground inside it, build your FOB and Patrol Bases or hide your Caches, and bleed the enemy dry. 300 tickets, 150-minute rounds.

• Tough FOBs: one per team, 600 HP radio, one HAB, no overrun. Blow it up or dig it out with shovels; losing it costs 100 tickets.
• HESCO Patrol Bases for squad leaders: a forward spawn that drains the enemy if it holds for 15 minutes.
• Caches for irregular forces: hidden spawn points that refill ammo and drain enemy tickets.
• Outnumber them: a lead of 10+ players inside the AO makes the enemy bleed tickets.

Places to fight over

• Tarnholm: the valley's city, with apartment blocks, an old stone church and churchyard, a market square and an industrial quarter.
• Lakeport, Railyard and Kettle: Nordic towns of timber houses, gardens, fences and back lanes, plus ten hamlets and their farms.
• The river: 70 m wide and deep. Cross at the dam, the stone bridge, the rail bridge or the North Bridge, or swim for it.
• Tarnborg Fortress: a ruined hilltop fort. Walk the walls, climb the towers and storm it through the breach.
• The Gorge: a narrow ravine crossed by a single rope bridge.
• The Broken Bridge: a collapsed river bridge you can still scramble across.
• Ridge Trail: a rocky spine with a 12 m wooden lookout tower at the top.
• Tank Graveyard: a 300 x 200 m vehicle dump with about 90 wrecks to hide among.
• The Airfield: a runway with hangars, hardened aircraft shelters, a control tower and a fuel farm.
• The Quarry: a deep open pit with stepped benches.
• The Power Station: a new brick-and-concrete power plant at the old works.
• Trench lines: over 5 km of connected trenches with dugouts and machine-gun nests.
• And more: outposts and a firebase, a railway with tunnels, a radio relay, a sawmill, a logging camp and a crash site.
• A secret:
somewhere in the woods there is an old mine. Go in one end and see where you come out, and look for the miners' old room on the way.
Nordic details

• Hay drying racks, mountain summer farms, wooden chapels, bus shelters, mailboxes and blue place-name signs.
• Spruce and birch forests, windbreaks, bogs, streams and small mountain lakes.
• The fall version has its own foliage and ground: amber birches, dry grass and rust-coloured scrub.
