I made this mod for myself and a friend, and it is still in development - expect rough edges, changes and the occasional bug. Parts of it were made with the help of AI, please keep that in mind.
The mod might be a little over-engineered, and as you explore it, one thing will quickly become obvious: YES, I really like buttons.
But I thought it might fit.
DS-8 Server Rack
A full-height data server for your base. It stores your data, runs your IC10 code, automates half your base and has considerably more buttons than strictly necessary. All of them do something. Most of them even do something useful.

What it does for you
- Storage - eight hot-swap drive bays, 4096 memory addresses. Pull a drive, carry it to another rack, and your data, programs and automation come along.
- Twelve IC10 processors - four sockets on the front, eight more in the expansion chassis in the rear door. They share six pins and 32 I/O ports, and nobody has to build twelve circuit housings.
- Automation without code - up to 32 if-then rules, eight scenes for your whole base ("Night", "Storm", "Lockdown") and a little library of ready-made programs: advanced airlock, room climate, greenhouse lights, solar tracking and more, each with a list of what to build.
- Print jobs - queue "10 x Iron Sheets, then 5 x Cable Coil" into the printers on your network and go do something more exciting. Like waiting.
- Base dashboard - every device on the network and every alarm on one screen.
A small operating system
DS-8 Server OS: thirteen programs in four groups, a start menu, a task bar, a status bar and the distinct feeling that it is 2003 again.

- A debugger for every processor - pause one chip while the others keep working, step through it line by line, set breakpoints, or watch a register and stop the moment it changes.
- Errors in plain words - instead of "DeviceNotFound line 4" it tells you that d0 goes to I/O port 1 and nothing is plugged in there. And what to do about it.
- Code check - unknown instructions, jumps to labels that do not exist, devices asked for values they do not have, loops without a yield. Ideally before they become a problem. At the latest shortly after.
- Small edits on the spot - change a number, comment out a line, apply. No computer needed for the quick fixes.
Hardware you can touch
- Operator panel - a 64-key pad under a glass cover, function keys, selectors, sliders, toggles, a key switch with a real, printable key, and a guarded FORMAT button that does exactly what you fear.
- Patch field - 14 patch cables you can really re-plug: drives to memory banks, processor pins to I/O ports.
- Behind the monitor - the screen swings out to reveal the system board and years of "temporary" wiring. Plus a setup utility, for people who enjoy setup utilities.
- Service bay at the back - its own display, DIP switches, self tests and a factory reset that asks nicely first.
- Power and heat - a UPS (add a battery cell for longer), fans that really turn, an air filter that slowly clogs, and a stop screen if you let it cook. In normal base air it runs for a very, very long time on its own.

Getting started
[olist] [*]Print the DS-8 Server Rack kit and a few data drives at the Electronics Printer. [*]Place the rack, connect power and a data cable. New racks come with a motherboard behind the monitor already. [*]Slide the drives into the bays and flip the big MAIN POWER switch. [*]Open the glass cover and press HOME. HELP explains every program, the Stationpedia page explains everything else. [/olist]

Requires StationeersLaunchPad. In multiplayer every player needs the mod. Works alongside the Data Centre mod. Everything else is explained on the DS-8 Server Rack page of the Stationpedia in game - with slightly fewer jokes than buttons.
