Mimas Outpost with 5 Windtunnels
I always wanted to try out Turbine Generators so I did in this small & compact base project.
This base as it is will keep you very much alive. It's not overly automated cause there's just not enough power and I think I've worked already too many hours on this base, so I'll post this world as it is ;)
here's the features of the base:
POWER:
- 5 Windtunnels generating 900W each for a total of 4'500W constantly 24h - Solar Panels around the base which will generate around 5000W peak during the day
Of course Solar Power is not great on Mimas but I'll take that 5000W all day. I could have also built a Gas Generator but this wasn't the idea of this base, also you would need a much bigger cooling solution as well. There's also a backup Coal Generator which kicks in if battery drops under 50%. But you should be good for many days as long as you don't use all the lights and machines at ones and keep shutting off stuff and only power up stuff you need. There's some handy buttons around to do so.
Something about the Windtunnels, they run 10 Turbine Generator each and are pressurized with Nitrogen. You don't need much to prime them in the beginning. But you should never touch them again. they seem to very very slowly rising in pressure inside but this really shouldn't be a problem. they're inside reinforced walls. Also there's a gas sensor in each of the first rooms of the windtunnel. This pressure isn't really the one you wanna measure. Instead measure the pressure coming out of the filtration units first pipe. But don't worry I've been running these Windtunnels a long time without any issues.
- Windtunnel 1 is attached to the base on top left of the Airlock - Windtunnel 2, 3, 4 & 5 are located in the Basement
ATMOS:
The atmos in the base is:
70 % Nitrogen (N2) 28 % Oxygen (O2) 2 % Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
this should be enough CO2 for the plants.
I've planted a couple of Darga Ferns for a bit of Oxygen production. If you wanna plant more plants be careful there's alot of space and Hydroponics trays but don't fill them all up with darga otherwise you will burn through your CO2 very quickly and this can become a problem. I usually do a food run, plant food plants produce a couple of soups and then not have any foodplants growing until needed.
If you need more CO2 just feed Fuel into the normal Furnace (there's a Power Control Console near the furnace), then in front of the furnace on the floor there's a Pipe Analyzer & Pump were you can monitor how much CO2 is in the Furnace/Pipe and pump it manually into the Waste Tank. The Waste Tank will automatically cool the extracted CO2 and pump it into the base. So much for CO2 production. Of course you will need to keep producing fuel, but this shouldn't be a problem.
Oxygen shouldn't be a Problem (darga fern & farming ices should be plenty enough).
Nitrogen comes from crushing ices and also from furnaces. But you shouldn't run out, cause the Nitrogen in the base is in a loop and won't consume. Unless you use the Nitrogen Refill for your Jetpack Propellant. Use Fuel instead. You can refill at the fuelstation outside.
FUEL PRODUCTION:
There's a fuel production station outside the base. Just watch the Oxygen & Volatiles Tanks, befor you produce more fuel. They need to have the same Temperature (which they always should, cause of the Heat Exchanger). Then you can press the produce fuel button. Volatiles is made by mining Volatile Ices and crushing them into the crusher outside.
Ores are stored in the vending machine outside. You can order it from inside with a handy button. Credits goes to CowsAreEvil, I've taken alot of inspiration from his videos in this base, I use some of his IC codes too which I changed for my base. This dude is awesome and a Stationeers Master. If you haven't watched his videos go do it now. You will learn alot.
Some other stuff to know: - Switch on the Beacon (button outside) if you go far away mining or just bring your Tracking/GPS Tablet with you. - Don't forget to refill coal for the backup generator, if Coal storage is low the flashing lights inside & outside will flash. - keep mining for Ices for Water, Volatiles, Nitrogen, Oxygen if tank gets very low - keep producing CO2 (for the plants) with fuel into furnace right of the entrance - always open helmet inside base for extra small CO2 production
Refill Stations are there and you also have a cozy little Sleep Cabin with a stunning view of Saturn.
Furnace & Advanced Furnace are there but nothing fully automated. You can produce advanced Ingots no Problem. Just do everything manually.
Also it is very very loud, LOL but yeah as long as you can survive just wear some earplugs when you go to sleep ;)
hope you enjoy
