Version 4.2.0 - Breathing Inside a Train
🚂 The Mon-o-Rail - Trains for Stationeers
You've done the hard work. Outposts are coming online, near and far.
You know it’s time to automate ore transfers - but you can’t justify the fuel cost of a rocket to go all the way to space, only to land 200 metres from home?
Introducing the missing piece of outpost automation: the Mon-o-Rail.
Deliver. Retrieve. Visit in style. IC10 programmable. Ready to run. Are you?
🔥 Subscribe If…
- You like trains!
- You’ve ever wished outpost logistics didn’t require a rocket.
- You want your base to feel like an actual operation.
- You think ore should move itself.
- You’ve always wanted a train in Stationeers.
🚣 Train Types
Four variants share the same rail and station infrastructure:
Cargo Monorail Train - Hauls items via a chute network Passenger Monorail Train - Carries up to 10 players (2 drivers + 8 passengers) Atmospherics Monorail Train - Transports gases via a pipe network Cargo & Atmos Monorail Train - Transports gases and items (limited capacity)
All trains are articulated - multiple cars with accordion segments that flex around curves.
✨ Key Features
- Rail networks - Grid-snapped rails, switches, branches, loops and support pillars.
- Stations - Freight, passenger, unified, and neutral modular station cores.
- Signals and routing - Automatic block signals, route signals and one-way routing.
- Manual driving - Take the controls from either locomotive.
- IC10 / Logic Interface - Docks, stations and signals are reachable through LogicTransmitter.
- Train screens and maps - Live speed, power, destination and network information.
- Crash / Wreckage - High-speed collisions and rail-end impacts can derail trains.
- Audio - Engine sounds, horn, doors, station SFX and PA announcements.
- Much more - Full details and guides are available in Stationpedia.
🆕 What's New in 4.2.0
Breathing inside a train and what you need for it.
Passenger trains can now be used as part of a player-built pressurized station layout. The atmosphere is the main feature of this update: doors, walls, floors, and turnstiles are the pieces that make the station usable, but the sealed volume and its atmosphere hardware are still your responsibility.
🏗️ Modular Stations
StructureRailModularStation is a neutral rail stop with an invisible stopping point. It is deliberately not a prebuilt passenger building. Build the platform and pressure envelope around it with the modular pieces.
Use the Modular Station Floors Kit for floor, ramp, and lowered train-bed pieces. Use the Modular Station Props Kit for the ready ticket machine, turnstile, and platform AirGates. The large train Airlock Gate has its own Modular Station Airlock Gate Kit. The left- and right-hand AirGate variants are separate buildable structures so their telescoping doors can match your train-door layout.
A typical pressurized platform looks like this from above:
[large train Airlock Gate] ==== TRAIN / TRAIN BED ==== [large train Airlock Gate]
platform edge: AirGate | Wall | AirGate | Wall | AirGate | Wall ...
below the volume: modular floor and lowered train-bed pieces
The intent is to close the space between two large train Airlock Gates. Put a platform AirGate at each train doorway and a wall section between the openings. Complete the sides, roof, and floor, then use pumps, vents, storage, and monitoring to make the enclosed train-bed volume breathable. AirGates do not create an atmosphere tunnel by themselves, and the modular core does not automatically equalize pressure.
LightPost, LightPostScreenBeam, and ModularStationScreen are visible in Stationpedia as planned content, but are not assigned to a construction kit in this release. They still need more work before they become buildable.
🛤️ Previous v4 Highlights
Version 4 introduced connected rail networks, switches, loops, route signals, manual cab driving, stable station-name hashes, LogicStack timetables, live network maps, authoritative multiplayer topology, and high-speed derailment/wreckage.
Already have a v3 world? Back it up first. Saves and trains should carry forward, but automation needs a short migration: label every station, replace numeric targets with HASH("Exact Station Name"), and update the server plus every client together.

🛡️ Safety Systems
- Standing-passenger safety - Train will not depart if anyone is standing.
- Smooth deceleration - Trains slow down gracefully on red signals.
- Pressure is your design - Verify pressure and gas composition before opening a train or platform door.
