A smart canister is a bigger waste tank

Put a Smart Gas Canister in your suit's Waste Tank slot and the suit keeps filtering, dumping your breath and cooling until the canister is 90% full by its own rating, not at the 4053 kPa every canister gets in the base game. That is 18.2 MPa instead of 4 MPa: about four and a half times the waste, and about four and a half times the cooling on a hot world, before you need to swap.

What changes

• With a smart gas canister in the Waste Tank slot, the suit stops filling it at a share of the canister's own rated pressure (20265 kPa, where it starts to burst). The default share is 90%, so 18239 kPa.
• Everything that goes by that limit follows: filtering, dumping exhaled gas, cooling, the suit's status, and the waste warnings and percentage on your HUD. A smart canister at 4 MPa no longer reads "almost full".
• Any other canister, and a broken smart one, keeps the game's 4053 kPa.
• Works for the Hardsuit and the Eva suits.

Removing it

Nothing is stored in your save. Disable or remove it at any time: the suit goes back to stopping at 4053 kPa. A smart canister already above that simply stays full until you empty it.

Good to know

• Why not fill to 100%? A canister starts to burst when the difference to the air around it reaches its rating, and in vacuum that is all of its pressure. A burst canister explodes on your back. A canister in a suit slot does not warm or cool, so it stays where the suit stops: 90% keeps about 2 MPa under the burst point even in vacuum.
• A Suit Storage still empties the waste canister completely, whatever its pressure.
• Multiplayer: every player needs the mod, and the same version. A player without it cannot join a game hosted with it, and a player with it cannot join a game hosted without it; the refusal names the mod. The host decides how full every suit fills and sends its setting to each player, so everyone's waste warnings and percentage show the host's real limit, whatever their own settings say.
• If a game update changes what this depends on, the mod stays off and says so in the log.
