When TF2 first launched it used different system for displaying weapons the player is holding, one model specifically for the first person view model and another model for the third person view, not too long after release, many new weapons added used a new system called Combined or 'c_models' which uses one model for both the first person and third person views.

When it came time to add support for this system to the original stock weapons, many of the phong and rimlight values where changed, this caused notable visual regressions in the way the weapons are shaded, most notably for the Scattergun, Rocket Launcher, Minigun, Medigun, Sniper Rifle, and Revolver.

This fix aims to adjust the phong, rimlight, and lightwarp settings of the stock weaponry to closer match their v_model versions, as well as making them more visually consistent across the weapon roster.
