NO ONE CAN SEE ME~~~XDD

In 1985, Rick Astley was discovered by Pete Waterman while performing at a bar and was signed to his production team. To help him better understand the music industry, Pete Waterman arranged for him to stay in his apartment in London and work as an assistant in the studio, learning how to produce records. One morning, after chatting on the phone with his girlfriend, Pete Waterman heard Rick Astley jokingly say, 'You’re never going to give her up.' This line stuck in his mind. Not long after, on his way to work, Pete Waterman heard a song by American R&B singer Sybil, which sparked his creative inspiration, and he suddenly came up with the title and idea for 'Never Gonna Give You Up.' He then went into the studio to co-create the song with his team.

In October 1986, Rick Astley completed the recording of the song at PWL Studios in South London. Mike Stock and Pete Waterman put a lot of effort into producing the track, adjusting its key so Rick Astley could sing in a higher range. Like other songs produced by Pete Waterman’s team, it was made following their 'formula,' using lots of synthesizers, sequencers, and the Linn 9000 drum machine to create a smooth Eurobeat sound. Additionally, the production was inspired by Colonel Abrams’ 1985 track 'Trapped,' as the team wanted to recreate the feel of 'Trapped' in 'Never Gonna Give You Up.'
